We’re coming out of the cold snap. The lowest the humidity got was 20% for a few hours, but mostly it’s been between 22% and 24%. We’ll see if I can get it back closer to 35% now thwt we’re back to our normal winter weather. And if not, I may actually buy that second Venta.
The thing I hate about all these solutions is the noise. The Venta is better than most, but I can hear it while I’m playing.
Actually I shouldn’t complain so much, because I used to have to have a free-standing dehumidifier in the piano in our old house. In this house, in summer the humidity is really well-controlled (thanks to the AC which works really well). But in the house we lived when I first got the piano, when we lived in the US Southeast, and in the rental we lived in when we first moved to this state (Midwest) it was much harder to control. The freestanding humidifier is the most evil contraption. It’s like sitting next to a jet engine.
Compared to that, the Venta is practically silent. Although I do turn it off to record…
