Congrats on getting through the move! The piano looks great!

Thanks everyone!

shawarma_bees How is the volume and acoustics?

No idea yet ๐Ÿ˜…

Weโ€™re exhausted, Iโ€™ll play tmrw.

It looks great! I think you picked a great final placement and hopefully it sounds good in that spot!!

ShiroKuro Thanks David! Iโ€™m pretty sure this is the placement Iโ€™ll go with. An added bonus to this placement, that you canโ€™t see from the mock-up, is that you will be able to see the curve of the piano from the living room, and sitting like this, I will be able to see all the way to the back of the living room as well.

I think this is the best placement. You have an angle for acoustics, if you have someone in the room (say doing a duet) they have a place to stand near the piano. If you have the curtains open at all, you will have the light at your back and not be looking into it.

Looks like the piano move went very well. Congratualations and wishing you much happiness in your new home.

Very nice!! How good that you have moved. I hope you'll enjoy your new home better than the previous one.

Now you can throw your cute little purse on the red chair after a day at the office, and sit down and play on that magnificent piano!

    Thank you everyone!

    Rubens, Love it! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

It looks great! I think you made the right choice with a diagonal placement that highlights the piano as the focus of the room!

My setup is very similar. Looks great, and congrats on the move!

    Maybe a Blรผthner one day...

Looks wonderful, SK! Here's to many years of happy playing! ๐Ÿฅณ

    6 days later

I've been playing almost every day since we moved. I think it's a little on the loud side, but that's probably ok. I'll add some things to the walls and maybe more things in the room and hopefully that will help.
Also, it has a harshness in the upper register that's unpleasant, but I think that will be resolved with tuning, which will happen next week. I did ask the tuner to be prepared to evaluate whether it would benefit from some light voicing.

I'm quite happy with how it looks there, and I love having a dedicated piano space! Also, this might sound silly, but I am super, super happy about the fact that the new piano space has room for two shelves, one just to the left of the keyboard. This means I have most of my piano books in this room, and I have a place to keep things I need right next to the piano.

In our rental house, my piano books and other items were in a separate room and it always annoyed me! ๐Ÿ˜…

Oh, but wait, there is one "negative" to the new piano space. The spots where people can sit in the piano room are so close to the piano that I don't think I could have people come and sit right there to play for them. Mr. SK tried that and I think he felt it was so loud that it's kind of overpowering. So I think they need to sit in the hallway maybe (which might be weird), or else in the living room.

Fortunately, Mr SK said the piano sounds fantastic when you're sitting in the living room. ๐Ÿ™‚
