In which language do you count a beat?
I usually count in Bavarian (in my head). Sometimes in English, but replace "se-ven" by "sev". And I often count up to 8; meaning I am counting the 8th notes inside a bar. This allows me getting rid of the "and". I use the "and" only in cases when I need to count 16th notes. Prefer mine over the more established ones any day:
Typical established one:
"One - te - and - te - Two - te - and - te - Three - te - and - te - Four - te - and - te"
vs mine:
"One - and - Two - and - Three - and - Four - and - Five - and - Six - and - Sev - and"
