navindra Your kids have good taste! j/k

How old are they?

And you're right, that is the best review. Though I'm a bit embarrassed to think of my face on some big TV somewhere, and my singing blaring through quality speakers (I can only assume you have the BEST quality speakers)...

Nightowl Thanks for sharing this sweet performance and defying that red button! I love this song and it's a wonderful way to showcase a mere year of playing, and solo at that! Well done! 👍

SalmonJack Bravo! Bliss is the perfect name for this piece, because that's exactly what I felt listening and watching to the beautiful footage from your boat! And the "Ten" part of the name makes me think of "Take Five"... perfect naming. This was a real treat and your creativity and achievement is awe-inspiring... I feel the Columbia River calling to me. 👏

Got distracted by the holidays. Trying to finish listening and commenting on this recital before the year is over.

Cratersmash Sonata No. 3 in A Minor by Sergei Prokofiev - Great description there. Sounds pretty difficult, but once learned would be fun to play. Classic Prokofiev sound.

Rob Lost by Rob - Wow! Really nice composition! Shows a level of sophistication that I don't hear very often. The visual effects with the water droplets are also perfect for it.

javiercorre - Sonatas K 208 and K 380 by Scarlatti - I'm not familiar with K208, but K380 sounds familiar and I like it a lot. You have a nice dynamic range on both of those. Well played!

SalmonJack - Bliss Ten by SalmonJack - Your composition (and probably the images also) made me think of a river. By turns flowing, contemplative and majestic.

Sgisela - Do Tebe - Vitaly Filipenko - What a lovely piece! It's always satisfying to be able to play a piece close to how you have it in your head.

ShiroKuro - Reminiscence - Takashi Kako - A lovely, dreamy piece. Good choice on using the recording where you played your favorite spot well, since I think one of the main points of performing is to show the audience how beautiful the given piece of music is.

Pathbreaker - Larghetto by Germaine Tailleferre - Really nice music and played much better than what I think of as a work in progress. I'm not familiar with the composer, so thank you for sharing that.

diretonic - Chega de Saudade by A.C. Jobim - Wow! I don't know if I'm more impressed by the remarkable skill to make an arrangement like that or your lively playing of it. Well done!

navindra - The Entertainer by Scott Joplin (arr.) - How nice to be able to play an arrangement of that famous piece. I love the high note at the very end. I'm not sure if it was part of the arrangement or playful showmanship on your part. Thank you for making this recital possible and especially this forum!

    navindra unstickied the discussion .

Sgisela this is such a gorgeous piece and you played it so beautifully!

lilypad Thank you, Lilypad. You are very kind.

Sophia Nailed it! Your enjoyment of this piece shines throughout this neat and polished performance. I love how this piece is reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda in the beginning, but then it goes full on Joplin. I was thinking of doing something else after Level 1, but this has me reconsidering. Nicely done and very enjoyable! 👍

BicBic Wow! This evokes such sadness and melancholy! Masterfully done! I generally just don't get Scriabin but this one made sense from the start, no doubt due to your interpretation, your innate grasp of the piece, and your topnotch sense of musicality. Bravo! 👏

Btw, when are you getting a Bluetooth page turner pedal? 🙂

navindra so the tablet being used in that video is my husband's - but not long after that recording, I bought myself my own tablet for music as my 'reward' for sticking at my restart of piano for a whole year! i am currently attempting my page turns by waving by head to the side! And thank you for your lovely comments. I haven't played many Scriabin pieces yet.

rogerch I love it! It sounds so much like film music... and you did all of that from the sound of a minor fourth? Amazing and very eloquent storytelling. There's so much going on with this. Bravo on your versatility as a musician and composer! 👏

Thanks for being such an inspiration!

Thanks for the kind words and thanks for providing the recital opportunity! I'm looking forward to #3!

lilypad Thanks a lot for this very enjoyable and melancholic performance with a great jazzy feel! Your enjoyment of this piece really shines through. I enjoyed your interpretation! 👍

thepianoplayer416 Nice! This song is so recognizable and enjoyable, it's a classic. Thanks for bringing this to life on the piano and thanks for entertaining us with it! 👏

Sam Wow! So you compose as well? You never cease to amaze me, and I don't mean that lightly. You are my role model in so many ways like you wouldn't believe e.g. I recently picked up biking. 😃

To me, this definitely feels like a period piece, but also very evocative, and it could fit right in with a story like Twin Peaks in terms of style of music. I really like how delicate it gets as well.

Color me impressed. Bravo for bringing this new piece of music to life! 👏👏👏

MarieJ I love this! It's so delicately played with such a nice range and your artwork complements it perfectly! Nice touch with the animations of your art! You always have a knack for finding the best music and doing it justice with your performances. Very nice! 🎨

Player1 Short and sweet! Nicely done learning this in such a short time too! 👍

Rubens Absolutely stunning, Rubens! It's a whole other league. I'm really glad you decided to share this. Beautiful story telling and what an emotional rollercoaster ride. Bravo! 👏

Btw, I'm not familiar with this piece, but the ending feels a little unresolved!

Cratersmash Wow! What an ambitious undertaking and such a spirited performance of such a challenging piece. And you're doing all of this from memory? Is this the longest piece in the recital? Please allow me to pick up my jaw from the floor! 😲

Gooseberry I love it! You've only been playing since 2021?? This is very impressive work, you absolutely nailed it, and this is a single take?? This piece also sounds excellent... I may have to learn this, if only I could play it as smoothly and expressively as you, I'd be so happy. I enjoyed this a lot! Nicely done indeed. 👏

Rob Stunning. I loved everything about this. The piano sounded so good and multi-dimensional. The composition sounds like top hit material and movie-worthy, and the video was so tastefully done. Goosebumps. Congratulations on your achievement here. 🌟

TC3 Playing, composing, and singing. What a hat trick! Thanks so much for this entertaining performance. You're completely at ease on the stage and a natural showman! You deserve the mic! 🎤

Too kind. 🙂 I'd definitely call that "arranging" rather than "composing" and not very creative arranging at that.
I'm also getting better at singing it. I might post another version sometime, maybe with the band (guitar + drums).

          Enthusiastic but mediocre amateur.

navindra Thank you Navindra, for your most generous comments! It is always both humbling, and encouraging, when someone half a world away appreciates my amateur efforts. Thank you again. 😊
