MarieJ I thought the piano overwhelmed the voice a little at times - microphone placement?
I thought about this a lot!! I want to be able to sing and play at the spur of the moment--at a party for example. In which case, I won't have time to mess with a mic, and I need to a) project my voice and b) keep the piano soft to get the balance right. So for the past two recitals (and when I record myself) I'm purposely not trying to put a mic directly at my mouth. Even placing the mic on the top of the piano feels a little bit like cheating. I think, in order to hear what I sound like, I need to put the mic closer to where the audience would be. Maybe I'll try that for my next recording. It means the piano will probably be too loud, but that balance is what I'm trying to accomplish.

Rubens — Sonata no.2, Op.36 (1913), 2nd movement - Thanks for sharing - I’m not that familiar with the Rach sonatas! This was beautiful. Sounds difficult too, which is to be expected from Rachmaninoff!
Cratersmash — Sonata No. 3 in A Minor - Yes it does sound difficult, but it sounds great! It does look like a lot of fun!
Gooseberry — Pigalle - Beautiful piece, I really enjoyed your delicate playing of this.
Rob — Lost - Very nice composition. Was there any inspiration behind it?
TC3 — Worried Life Blues - Very cool, great singing too! Will you be sharing a recording with the full band at all?? Playing with others is such a joy!
lilypad — God Bless the Child - I’m not familiar with the piece, but it sounded great. Played very confidently, and perhaps you can bring in the feeling you have in your head over time!
javiercorre — Sonatas K. 208 and K. 380 - I love the Scarlatti sonatas! You played with great clarity. I think you sounded a bit more confident with 380? How did you decide on this pair? (I’ve heard they are often paired?) AND how did the recital go? I’m sure you did great based on this performance!
SalmonJack — Bliss Ten - Beautiful, I really enjoyed your composition especially with the video which was great. The river looks so flat and open, I bet it’s an amazing kitesurfing spot too! I used to sail on the river back in Perth, on a Tasar. It never seemed so blissful though! The Finn looks pretty challenging and hardcore to me!
rsl12 — I am the very model of a modern Major-General - This was great! I love how engaging your performances are. The vocal part appears to be extremely challenging, but you nailed it. How did the recital go??
Sgisela — Do Tebe (to you) - A really cool piece, I loved it! Played beautifully.
ShiroKuro — Reminiscence - Really nice, and I didn’t notice many mistakes so they weren’t too obvious! How did the recital go?
diretonic — Chega de Saudade (No More Blues) - This was great! Very enjoyable to listen to, and I’m sure to play (and arrange!) too!
navindra — The Entertainer - A difficult piece in any arrangement, and you played it well! Liked the changing dynamics throughout. I thought the first bit of the main theme part could be played a bit more bouncy perhaps?
BicBic Reminiscence - Really nice, and I didn’t notice many mistakes so they weren’t too obvious! How did the recital go?

Sgisela Your Estonia sounds sooooo good and incredibly majestic... Your masterful playing not only does the L210 justice but elevates it to a whole other level. I also continue to be astounded at how good iPhone recordings are.

Schubertian2 - Ballade 4, Chopin - What an impressive accomplishment to play that so well! Your dedication to piano really comes through. Congratulations on your retirement.
BicBic - Scriabin - Prelude no.4 in E minor from Op 11 - I'm not familiar with Scriabin, other than as being a famous composer. That sounded lovely and seemed very expressive.

Player1 - Ashokan Farewell - Bravo for taking on a challenging piece and trying it again. I love that theme music.

WieWaldi I loved your laid back performance and the leisurely feel you created. You sounded fully in your comfort zone, making this a very enjoyable listen in what could well be described as seventh heaven.
Btw, thanks a lot for sharing that free tutorial by the composer himself. I've just subscribed to that channel.

rsl12 I'll say it again — You're a true entertainer!
Yours was the first performance I played on the big screen for my kids. They started watching, incredulous, with their mouths open, and were like how does he sing so fast? By the end of it, they were dancing and jumping up and down jubilantly with your performance.
If that's not a good review and testament to your entertainment skills, I don't know what is. Bravo!

SalmonJack Bravo! Bliss is the perfect name for this piece, because that's exactly what I felt listening and watching to the beautiful footage from your boat! And the "Ten" part of the name makes me think of "Take Five"... perfect naming. This was a real treat and your creativity and achievement is awe-inspiring... I feel the Columbia River calling to me.

Cratersmash Sonata No. 3 in A Minor by Sergei Prokofiev - Great description there. Sounds pretty difficult, but once learned would be fun to play. Classic Prokofiev sound.
Rob Lost by Rob - Wow! Really nice composition! Shows a level of sophistication that I don't hear very often. The visual effects with the water droplets are also perfect for it.
javiercorre - Sonatas K 208 and K 380 by Scarlatti - I'm not familiar with K208, but K380 sounds familiar and I like it a lot. You have a nice dynamic range on both of those. Well played!
SalmonJack - Bliss Ten by SalmonJack - Your composition (and probably the images also) made me think of a river. By turns flowing, contemplative and majestic.
Sgisela - Do Tebe - Vitaly Filipenko - What a lovely piece! It's always satisfying to be able to play a piece close to how you have it in your head.
ShiroKuro - Reminiscence - Takashi Kako - A lovely, dreamy piece. Good choice on using the recording where you played your favorite spot well, since I think one of the main points of performing is to show the audience how beautiful the given piece of music is.
Pathbreaker - Larghetto by Germaine Tailleferre - Really nice music and played much better than what I think of as a work in progress. I'm not familiar with the composer, so thank you for sharing that.
diretonic - Chega de Saudade by A.C. Jobim - Wow! I don't know if I'm more impressed by the remarkable skill to make an arrangement like that or your lively playing of it. Well done!
navindra - The Entertainer by Scott Joplin (arr.) - How nice to be able to play an arrangement of that famous piece. I love the high note at the very end. I'm not sure if it was part of the arrangement or playful showmanship on your part. Thank you for making this recital possible and especially this forum!

Sophia Nailed it! Your enjoyment of this piece shines throughout this neat and polished performance. I love how this piece is reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda in the beginning, but then it goes full on Joplin. I was thinking of doing something else after Level 1, but this has me reconsidering. Nicely done and very enjoyable!
BicBic Wow! This evokes such sadness and melancholy! Masterfully done! I generally just don't get Scriabin but this one made sense from the start, no doubt due to your interpretation, your innate grasp of the piece, and your topnotch sense of musicality. Bravo!
Btw, when are you getting a Bluetooth page turner pedal?
