Full confession: I donโt count either. Itโs hard, even Christian messes up sometimes ๐คช
I think counting is most useful with a teacher who is present in person, because they can correct things on the spot. I have seen people count unevenly so many times and they donโt even notice it, like one aaaaand twoooo AND three aaaaand eh eh eh oh yeah FOUR. That makes it even worseโฆ because you get a false sense of security and still not doing it right.
A better trick for self studying is probably record ourselves, listen critically. In that case you can count undistracted, correct whatโs wrong, record again, rinse, repeat. Maybe just take one bar at the time?
Or, as WieWie said, continue with lesson 7. I just listened to it again, and it's a very pretty lesson. Very smooth, it sounds so deep and lush.... and indeed no swing (yay!) ๐
