Now you can throw your cute little purse on the red chair after a day at the office, and sit down and play on that magnificent piano!

    Thank you everyone!

    Rubens, Love it! πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

It looks great! I think you made the right choice with a diagonal placement that highlights the piano as the focus of the room!

My setup is very similar. Looks great, and congrats on the move!

    Maybe a BlΓΌthner one day...

Looks wonderful, SK! Here's to many years of happy playing! πŸ₯³

    6 days later

I've been playing almost every day since we moved. I think it's a little on the loud side, but that's probably ok. I'll add some things to the walls and maybe more things in the room and hopefully that will help.
Also, it has a harshness in the upper register that's unpleasant, but I think that will be resolved with tuning, which will happen next week. I did ask the tuner to be prepared to evaluate whether it would benefit from some light voicing.

I'm quite happy with how it looks there, and I love having a dedicated piano space! Also, this might sound silly, but I am super, super happy about the fact that the new piano space has room for two shelves, one just to the left of the keyboard. This means I have most of my piano books in this room, and I have a place to keep things I need right next to the piano.

In our rental house, my piano books and other items were in a separate room and it always annoyed me! πŸ˜…

Oh, but wait, there is one "negative" to the new piano space. The spots where people can sit in the piano room are so close to the piano that I don't think I could have people come and sit right there to play for them. Mr. SK tried that and I think he felt it was so loud that it's kind of overpowering. So I think they need to sit in the hallway maybe (which might be weird), or else in the living room.

Fortunately, Mr SK said the piano sounds fantastic when you're sitting in the living room. πŸ™‚

BTW, this is a very hastily drawn sketch meant to show how the piano room flows into the living room. It's very open, when sitting at the piano, I can see into the living room. Also, where it says "opening at top," that's a divider wall that basically blocks the entryway from the living room. (ETA I just realized the front door isn't in the right spot here, but that's ok)

When you come in the front door, you're in a fairly roomy entryway, and that divider wall only goes maybe 3/4 of the way to the ceiling. Also, where it says "open" those are openings (more than just doorways) that are wide and open all the way to the ceiling. As a result, the sound moves through this space very well (Mr. SK won't be able to watch TV while I'm practicing πŸ˜… )

So I'm hoping that if I'm going to play for someone, they could either just sit in the living room, or maybe there's enough room for say four people to sort of sit in the hallway. (As hallways go, it's fairly wide). We'll see.... I'll report back the first time I have someone over. 🀞
