Well, I joined here, I think it would be great if the same kind of vibe that’s at PW could be found here. Who else from PW is here?

The promise is correct. The goal of PianoTell is to remain ad-free, free for use, and not monetized in any shady way at all.

I've prepaid for the domain for 10 years and I've made small donations to FreeFlarum. I say it's community supported because FreeFlarum is community funded. It looks inevitable that I will need to move to new hosting, but to get started, I will prepay hosting for a year or two, so we should be all good for that.

Thank you for offering support! While I'm not ruling out direct community support if it's ever needed, we're all good for the next few years at least. PianoClack is the living embodiment that this is a viable plan.

Kaboom! Nice to see I've landed amidst the other PW refugees. Fourteen years was a good run there for me, but the annoying ads made this day inevitable. Hoping PT can become equally robust. Cheers everyone!🎶🎵🎶🎵🍻🍷👍🤗

twocats I think it would be an excellent post to share on the other subforums even if you're not active in those.

I think it would be better if people active in those other forums (adult beginners, tuners, pianists, teachers) made their own posts (though they could copy as much of my post as they want). The message would mean more coming from a familiar person. But if no one volunteers to do it, I will.

I’m only moderately active on the ABF side and had been waiting to see if one of the other more active members posted something there. Quite a few ABF-ers are here already, so I think there is some awareness, but I’ll make a post… if I’m not banned in the next hour or so!

Is Piano / Tell and PianoClack the same designers? They look almost identical. Was wondering.
I see so many transfers from PW - so glad to see.
Feels good to be away from PW world, it just isn't the same anymore and not worth all the aggravation that it seems to cause.

They both use the same software, Flarum, which is why they look similar. But they are owned and maintained by different people (both originally from PianoWord). Pianoclack has been around for ₂ years and has developed an emphasis on digital pianos, whereas Piano Tell so far has an acoustic focus.

@navindra is also on PC - and since off topic things like the trials and tribulations of creating a forum like this were public, Rather than re-invent the wheel, he learned from the process I think. There's many people that participate on both, I personally like this format and thank Cybergene, who was brave and crazy enough to just do/learn by trying.

This platform is soooo much better than PianoWorld - makes sharing and collaborating much easier with drag and drop uploads and simple filesharing, codeblocks, etc.

Sgisela thanks for posting the notice at ABF. There are still a lot of forums that don't realize what has happened, so if no one from those forums (digital, tuners, pianist, teacher, composer) posts something letting them know what is happening by tomorrow evening, I guess I will.

EDIT: I will post something on the digital forum tonight. I just realized that Gombessa was the only mod of the digital forum that was still active, so they might want to know that they are currently essentially unmoderated.
