I may be an outlier in this regard, in that I never want "criticism/feedback" style comments on a recital submission. And I've always thought that, since I first started doing recitals years ago at PW.
Partly that's because I've always had a teacher. I get feedback from them, and I have a pretty clear-eyed view of my strengths and weaknesses.
But also it's because I treat the recital more as a performance than a lesson, and although there is always room for improvement in my playing (often/always a lot of room!) I did my best for the submission/recital and that's what I'd like to focus on. Maybe this is also because I have always struggled with a lot of performance anxiety, so just the congrats and encouragement means a lot to me.
I'm happy to hear things like what people liked about my subsmission, but I don't really want to hear advice or criticism, no matter how kind or helpful. (e.g., I love to hear comments like "the melody was so clear," or "I love how you played the X section," but I don't want to hear "you need to quiet down your left hand")
Perhaps that makes it a polite facade... I don't know. But that's what works for me, so I'm grateful to have the "Positive comments only " option.
OTOH I totally get it (and respect!) that others want comments and suggestions for improvement.
That's why it's great that we can do both options here.
