It's the sellers home indeed. They are not in a hurry, so I have time to sell my upright first so that there's room for the Blüthner. I will let professional piano movers bring it here, because I have no idea how to do that myself, turning a grand piano on the side and remove the legs.

That's a very interesting idea which, surprisingly, I've never heard suggested before. I would first ask the movers what they would charge to move the piano without mentioning your idea and then compare that to the price the piano might sell for, also factoring the fact you won't have to have the hassle of selling the Yamaha. In fact, there's always a possibility that the Yamaha might not sell or it would take forever to sell it unless you accept an extremely low price. IOW if the estimated selling price for your Yamaha is not much greater than the cost of moving the Bluthner, your idea sounds extremely good.

I had some difficulties finding a company who could move the Blüthner to my home. Most companies only move the pianos they sell now, because they don't have enough staff.
I found one now and the Blüthner will be moved to my home next friday! I do have to help, because that mover also didn't have enough staff available.

It was sold as a grand of 180cm but I thought the plate looked like the 190cm style 7. It's strange because there's also a report by a technician saying it's 180cm. I didn't bring a measuring tape, but I asked on pianoworld, and there two members replied who also think it's the 190cm style 7. So I will see next Friday if it's 180 or 190cm.🙂

I didn't sell the yamaha yet. It will take some time I guess.

As you know I've looked remotely at 2 older Bluthner's.

On that website they are listed as
Style 5 is 174cm (5' 8")
Style 7 is 190cm (6' 3")

The 175 also has a different plate. There is a 180 model but that one has a different plate as well as far as I can see from pictures on the internet.

As long as it's not longer than 200cm it's fine.😅

I wonder if others who bought a grand checked the length. I didn't think of it to check that to be honest.

Hi Josephine, I have read about your beautiful Bluthner grand! Congratulations! It sounds just what you wanted. How is the piano settling down in your home now? Sometimes they take a while, but eventually it works out fine. I actually tried a few different grands including a Baldwin R which was very nice, but of course different to Sauter pianos but it had a lovely tone. It needed work on some on the treble notes. The trouble is the action had become very heavy almost like driving a truck. Actually almost impossible to play. The other thing was we were leaving for Germany for the piano buying trip. So no time to plan anything else. The Sauter is fine!

Thank you! It's not here yet. It will arrive tomorrow. It's a nice match with the old Thürmer upright. Build almost in the same year. The Blüthner in 1902 and the Thürmer in 1903.

I remember that you went there to try the beautiful Sauter pianos!

I still have to decorate the room a bit. I measured it now, it's 193cm long. So it's a style 7!
