ShiroKuro I too like @JBaker ‘s suggestions for playing one piece in different ways.
I tried it at the store yesterday, comparing 3 grands. Also holding keys in different registers and listening to the quality and how long it took for the sound to die. And it made it clear which one I preferred. The Blüthner. And it also made me more relaxed because I wasn't really playing but inspecting.
At the store the salesperson didn't go away, was standing next to the piano. He did go for a short moment when I asked for the second time. I just think that's more normal here. I don't want to complain because when I told that I'm restoring my upright I got a tour around all sorts of piano's and what work they did on those pianos. Including the first model concert grand of Steinway, very old. The case was completely hand carved in England and the the rest if the grand was made in New York if I remember correctly.
They also showed some work in progress, like a Bösendorfer that was being restored now, and I saw the workshops and what they do there. It was really fun, and I learned a lot yesterday!
