ShiroKuro I watched this one - Interesting. I had absolutely no clue about all the hate for Canon in D. Thank you for the insight.
But it seems, it is a cellist's problem - playing the boring stuff over and over again. Maybe not this boring, but I get the point. On the other hand, me as a pianist feels well. It is only the left hand, repeating. And as blues player... hahaha, where is the problem? ๐
Good to know: If I have the opportunity in my life to choose a piece for a string orchestra, now I know what to pick.
For the rest of her arguments, why Canon is so hatred, it reads a little bit like this: It is a successful piece, it is overplayed. But to be honest, the piece doesn't get worse if others play it, or if others like it don't like it. I understand that one person starts to dislike it after hearing it over and over again, but it's a personal thing and has nothing to do with the piece itself. Just think about it:
1700: "Herr Pachelbel, I like this, congratulations! What was your piece called?"
1800: "Herr Pachelbel, Canon in D sounds so wonderful. Can't wait to hear it again."
1950: "Herr Pachelbel, your Canon is one the most famous classical pieces of all time. Well done."
2020: "Herr Pachelbel, this Canon sounds like crap." ๐
