Josephine the shorter or easier the piece, the harder it gets for me to practice.
So, short and easy isn't working for you.
Josephine And 1,5 page of a more difficult Chopin piece of 4 pages
And 1,5 pages of Chopin is working for you. Just so you know, that is 1,5 pages more of Chopin than I have ever played.
Josephine if I only learned a few more bars then I would arrive at a repeat with just a few changes, so then I would be able to play 2,5 pages. But I can't bring myself to do it.
So my advice to you would be, accept that you can't bring yourself to do it. At least for now - things may change, you never know what the future will bring.
But once you decide, "this is what I do on the piano. I play parts of difficult pieces. That is the kind of piano player I am," then you can continue to do what you do, without feeling frustrated.
In my mind I hear you saying, "Yes but..."
And my answer is: give it a couple of months. For the coming three months, do not even think about playing whole pieces. Simply allow yourself to play parts of pieces, and move on to the next piece when you feel like it. And just enjoy your freedom of doing what you like to do most.
Then after three months you can make a new decision. Do you feel like going on like this? Or would you like to change something?
Just my five cents!
