Just curious, before you understood, what did you think it was?
Animisha If I tell my (American) printer to print page 1,5, it would print 2 pages: page 1 and page 5. But that still did not make sense to me use 1,5 pages in a sentence. I was baffled.
Other things that confuses Americans: decimal point being comma instead of period, while thousands separator the opposite; date formats dd/mm/yyyy vs mm/dd/yyyy (this gets misread really easily).
Then, in the culture where I grew up, we concepturally read large numbers by segmenting every 4 digits (instead of every 3). I still mis-speak such numbers in English from time to time.
