Well my piano tuner came on Wednesday…. And he left without tuning. Again. 😅 I was practicing on Tuesday and I knew this was going to happen. The piano sounded so good. 😃
I think when I called him to schedule the tuning, the humidity had been sitting at around 25%. And the piano just sounded cranky and harsh. Well, the humidity went back up to around 35% and it stayed that way for a good week before he came. And I think the last time it was tuned, that was the about what the humidity was. So it’s like the piano maybe has a set point and it’s so settled into its tuning, plus I have the dampp chaser… So it just doesn’t drift out of its tuning very much.
When the tuner came on Wednesday, he sat down, played for a minute, up and down the keyboard, and then he looked up at me and there was this big pause, and then we both started laughing.
Then of course he talked to me about the piano, pointed out how in tune it was, and how good all the unisons were … And said to call him again when it warms up outside and the weather changes a little more.
Thank goodness he only lives about 5 minutes from me. I gave him a $20 bill for his trouble.
Oh, after he told me the piano didn’t need to be tuned, he sat there and played up and down the keyboard a little but more. Then he looked up at me and said “this piano just has such a delicious sound.”
🥰
I think that’s the only reason he tolerates me and these false alarms, is because he likes my piano. 😆
