PianoTell Recital #3 Is Now Live!
- Edited
plop_symphony Great job keeping a steady pattern in the bass! The transitions sounded a bit choppy, I would work on those more.
Thanks! Yes, I had problems trying to make those transitions swiftly and smoothly, there are hesitations where it's obvious I'm struggling to place my hands on the correct notes quickly enough. I honestly wonder if my brain functions quickly enough to nail this aspect of piano playing, I'm so slooooow even when I feel like I'm playing at a reasonable pace. I sometimes wonder whether this is normal for someone after 14 months of playing, or if I just don't have a brain that functions fast enough to overcome this issue.
WieWaldi I agree, my hands look awful. In my defence, the camera angle is probably the least flattering of all angles, as it shows my crooked little finger in full view - just awful! My hands don't look so bad from above, but my Chromebook is too bulky to put on a tripod and it needs to be near enough to turn it on/off from sitting at the bench. Anyway, obviously it's not just an issue of aesthetics - my hands are tense and my playing is not fluid and relaxed like yours - you make it look so easy. I'm honestly not sure I've got what it takes to play that way - ever. I keep saying maybe I need to get a teacher but for some reason I can't face it. Thanks for the link, I will look at the other thread and some piano teacher videos on YT.
"Don't let's ask for the moon, we have the stars." (Final line from Now,Voyager, 1942)
plop_symphony Well played. I like the way this piece moves, very lively and fun.
Player1 Mmmm, at times it really has a middle eastern flavor? Interesting. And despite your "pauses and hesitations" I thought you did a real fine job.
Nightowl Yes, I had problems trying to make those transitions swiftly and smoothly, there are hesitations where it's obvious I'm struggling to place my hands on the correct notes quickly enough. In this situation, you have two possibilities:
- stay in the rhythm and hit a key when it is time, but accept it could be the wrong key.
- decide what key is the correct one and sacrifice the timing
In my opinion, the first is the better solution. You will get faster from alone.
But if you accept hitting the wrong keys from time to time, you practice hitting the wrong key. And you will get faster and faster in hitting the wrong key from alone.
Peyton how to film horizontally with the i-phone
I have zero iphone knowledge, but would imagine there is an option under 'settings'/ screen settings, to select 'rotate' or 'auto rotate' or similar. Maybe under Portrait/landscape. Yours may be locked in Portrait mode? Jusst a thought from an android user.
Iβm starting at the end for PT.
Gooseberry β Nights in White Satin

rach3master β Call of Silence: Attack on Titan OST
Masterful! If I had seen this video without context I would've thought it was Animenz playing.
hebele Minuet in G by Christian Petzold - I've done this one so I know how difficult it is to get right. You got it right.
Pathbreaker Op. 116 No. 6, Intermezzo in E major - Not my most favorite piece but your performance shows your skills and abilities.
Calavera Antipyretic by Hitoshi Sakimoto - Not just brisk, but very brisk.
WieWaldi Frisco Blues by Christian Fuchs - Nice blues. You might want to consider giving more emphasis on the RH or letting the LH be a bit softer. On the other hand, going from scratch to a submission in 20 days isn't bad so forget everything I said.
That's it for today. I'll be back tomorrow (hopefully) with more.

Player1 Thank you for your kind words.
Player1 You might want to consider giving more emphasis on the RH or letting the LH be a bit softer.
Thanks that you mentioned this. I am happy if someone points out a specific problem. I had the feeling by myself already about this problem and was thinking to fix it, but considered this as a waste of time. If others can hear it, too, it might be worth the time, investing.
Thank you for your honest opinion, this means a lot to me
