I tuned my piano and recorded this weekend, lots of hard work, but I have no idea if it will pan out.

Anyone else still planning to participate? There's less than a week left!

rogerch Seems like I have a few more usable takes to choose from than I originally thought!

I was sure I had made many mistakes during the actual recording, but I don't even notice them on playback. I'm sure I fuddled the pedal more than once. I just have to pick a take now. πŸ™‚

Hmm... should I pick the hat version or the no-hat version? 🎩

Sadly, I made some basic mistakes on the video footage... I should have known better, a tiny bit more of effort would have gone a long way to avoiding the problems, but I got a bit negligent with the stress of setup and recording with limited time and didn't do proper test shots.

Oh well! I'll made do. I have a ton of work to put it all together now. πŸ˜ƒ

Come on everyone, there's still time to get your performances in!

navindra Yay! I’m glad you’re in! You’re the host so we need you at the party!

If the takes are equally good musically, I vote for the one with the hat!

navindra Hmm... should I pick the hat version or the no-hat version? 🎩

    Hats are always nice! 😊

    *
... feeling like the pianist on the Titanic ...

navindra should I pick the hat version or the no-hat version? 🎩

I vote for the hat! The hat the hat the hat! You are sooo ultra cool with that hat πŸ˜‚ ok you are ultra cool at any time, but I didn't want your head to get too big for the cool hat

navindra Hmm... should I pick the hat version or the no-hat version? 🎩

    Always the hat!

See? I'm not the only one who is unanimous in that 🀣

I had planned to record my recital piece today, but have other things to attend to, unexpectedly, so I will submit 'plan B', later.

    Here's the mid-week count:

It's going to be a lovely recital! πŸ’

I'm still working on my own submission, but I'll get it done. 🐒

I'll aim to publish the recital tomorrow morning before piano lessons!

I was messaging with @ShiroKuro and I said, aside from not having anything ready to share right now, that I don't want to be the person who posts a video and then doesn't take the time to listen and comment to everyone else. She said (hope you don't mind me quoting you, SK): "as I recall, this was discussed at PW many years ago, and at the time the consensus was, it's better to submit even if you can't listen/comment on everyone."

Any thoughts? @navindra I would especially like to hear what you think since you're doing the bulk of the work to manage the recitals! And, whether I join or not, I love that the recitals exist and I think it's a wonderful thing πŸ™‚

twocats Another person who might comment on this is @Sam btw, since I'm sure he was part of those conversations at PW.
Obviously PT doesn't have to take the same approach at PW, but it could be helpful to know what the considerations were. My memory is that people were ok with the idea that some recital participants wouldn't listen to all the other participants.

      @Sam am I remembering wrong?

twocats I don't want to be the person who posts a video and then doesn't take the time to listen and comment to everyone else. She said (hope you don't mind me quoting you, SK): "as I recall, this was discussed at PW many years ago, and at the time the consensus was, it's better to submit even if you can't listen/comment on everyone."

        I agree with SK!

Submitting a performance is a significant contribution all by itself already and I don't think anyone should feel like that obligates them any further. Sure, feedback is nice and motivating in general, but it's completely optional. Everyone can contribute by listening and commenting at their discretion.

        Else, just enjoy!

For me personally, the recitals have been very motivating and it has definitely been a net positive for me to participate, listen, and learn from others as well. I definitely find huge amounts of inspiration from folks here in more ways than one.

Do what's fun, what's motivating, or what works for you. PT is here to support the community. πŸ™‚
