Well, that's not a very flattering picture of me, P1, but I'm going to just Let it Be. It's Been A Hard Day's Night, but I know I can cope With A Little Help From My Friends. 🙃

WieWaldi Sounds interesting, on the list it goes. I had mixed feelings about Rocketman, it had its moments but I wasn't keen on the way it kept moving back and forth through time. I enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody and felt it gave a good insight into the turbulent personal life of Freddy Mercury.

I had to undo several layers of filters to get to the point where I could even find the search results. More filter layers had to be undone before I could even copy/paste the linky.

Now I have hours and hours of work to do to restore all those anti-Beatles filters. And even more hours ensuring that my computer isn't infected with some kind of Beatles virus that makes it play horrible music at max volume while teenybopper girls scream in the background.

Player1 Aw, I'm sorry about that P1, you clearly went above and beyond to find the right image and music to fit my mean girl image - it can't have been easy going into Beatles' infested territory! 🙃 Save yourself while there's still time, the last thing you want is a Beatles infestation! If it's any consolation, things are so much worse here in the UK, as Paul McCartney is still performing and has a habit of randomly popping up on our TV screens when doing the rounds to promote his latest thing - it's like watching something from a zombie horror movie! Still, maybe he needs the cash, he's probably down to his last trillion! 😁

I'll tell you what's worse, he owns a ~~palace~~ home near here in Hollywood Hills.

That means I live halfway around the world trying to escape the "Fab 4" and one of them ends up almost being my next door neighbor.

It's like I just can't catch a Beatles break.

Maybe I need a fumigation guy...

A bit of a thread derailment, but it's so awful what's happening in California. A friend of ours has been given the "standby for evacuation" notice, another (friend of a friend) lost their entire home to the fire. Hope you're safe P1, and not in one of the many afflicted areas. Let's hope they have it under control soon!

I second that, Sophia. I think that many of the affected areas are in the very expensive, rather secluded parts of LA - actually the sort of place where very rich and famous people like Paul McCartney live. He's not my cup of tea but I don't wish that on him, or anyone else, those fires are awful. Stay safe, P1.

One of the (now seven!) fires is headed toward Hollywood Hills. Which is where McCartney has his place. Same hills where the famous Hollywood sign is located.

Player1 It's good to hear that you're safe P1. They just showed awful scenes on the news, and said that several famous people have lost their homes, including Anthony Hopkins. It's ironic that a thread about films has ended up in a discussion involving real life events which resemble scenes from a disaster movie.

I'm glad I'm not in the position of having to find somewhere, anywhere, safe to sleep tonight like the fire displaced are right now.

Unfortunately, many of the homes that were lost will never be allowed to be rebuilt. California's nightmare bureaucracy and politics will prevent it. But, enough of that noise because this ain't the place for it.

Player1 We could start a separate thread about the California fires and all the related issues... forest management, climate change, insurance cover, politics etc - I would be very interested to hear your take on things and I think others might be too. There seem to be similar issues in Australia and parts of Europe too (not so many wildfires , but certainly droughts and extremely high temperatures), so people worldwide are concerned about these issues.

There aren't so many wildfires in Europe because "forrests" in Europe consist mostly of islands of trees surrounded by farmland. This excessive land use has the consequence that the rainfall isn't absorbed as much and therefore we get floods instead.

High temperatures are another big worry. Did you know that trees are already sprouting new buds here in Poland in January? Some migratory birds didn't even leave this year. I'm worried what it will be like in July.
