The "other forum" has a size limit that works out to (I think) a max of around 8-10 minutes of playing. I could be wrong about the length, but there is a limit. I'm not sure about this forum having a limit but the "other forum's" guideline is probably about right because it allows for longer works but doesn't let anyone perform a solo concert.

If you're a member of this site, you're good to go. Navindra will open a new thread with directions on how to post your submission. It's not difficult to do.

What can I say; I'm easy, easy like Wednesday morning...

One of these days I'm going to learn how to play that one too.

lilypad I already have a recording of "God Bless the Child" ready without too many wrong notes. It's just that it sounds boring. I'll try and liven in up between now and the recital.

    Have you tried more cowbell?

Player1 The limit is on the file size of the MP3 is 10 MB if I remember correctly. The bit rate of the MP3 will dictate how long of a piece you can submit. Higher the bit rate, the shorter the piece. So you can play with using a lower bit rate if you want to submit a longer piece. I don't think there is any limit here tough.

My piece is intermediate, sort of Jazzy. Learned it 2 years ago. Without the repeat at a moderate tempo came out slightly under 2 minutes.

Will decide by the end of the week to submit the shorter version or record a longer v2.

There is a limit at PW because you are uploading an mp3 file, and that tales space on the server, so we decided long ago on a limit. Now that the site has been bought out and disk space is probably no longer a problem - well, who cares at this point - I can't change it now anyway.

At PT you are not uploading anything to PT, but storing it somewhere else, so it doesn't matter.

But my experience at PW is that, if your submission takes more than a few minutes to listen to, you won't get as many listens... Or people will start listening and then move on unless it is very compelling or they have a special interest in the piece or the performer.

I'm going to make it easy on myself as well. It takes me quite a while to work on a piece I feel is truly worthy and there's no way I could keep that up on a quarterly schedule. So it's just going to be a piece from my favorite book to hate, Alfred.

I've not recorded yet... and I'm thinking maybe this time I'll do it on Pianoteq so that I could also submit it to Modartt's 2024 contest and make an easy 20€. Or maybe not... but then I'll have to tune one of my pianos and clear the house (of noisy little people) for the recording. I'm waffling, but I'll get it done either way! πŸ˜ƒ

Just wanted to give you all a heads up, I'll open up for submissions tomorrow evening rather than morning. This is also to make it easy on myself as it's a work day!

Eventually I'll figure out how to be as disciplined as Sam and stick to a precise schedule. πŸ™‚

Btw, now that we have a proven formula with Recital #1, I was also thinking of posting to /r/piano about Recital #2. However I haven't figured out that place and I always get downvoted to oblivion (if my posts aren't immediately deleted by bots), so it's not likely to be effective.

I'm happy to post an announcement there tomorrow morning if you like. My username might get a little recognition (though just a little).

I am going to use my Samson C01U microphone placed close to the output from the sound board together with GarageBand. Because I live in a small apartment with wall which are not damped I get a lot of echoes and mushy reverberation if I do anything else. So that produces an mp3 audio file. I'd like to upload that to YouTube but snazz it up with some images in a video format but I don't know if Youtube gives you any tools to do that. If not, I'll just upload an audio file

Schubertian2 If your Samson mic is recording to a computer, you may consider install OBS Studio. It’s free. It can combine various audio and video recording together in real time. For video you can use a webcam or even phone if it can act as webcam.

depends how much time it takes to get a decent recording - I might be recording up until the last minute on this one

            navindra unstickied the discussion .
navindra changed the title to PianoTell Recital #2 Updates .

navindra It looks like my announcement post on r/piano is taking off reasonably well.

For r/piano, 7 upvotes in two hours is pretty good!

I’m in! I have been away or very busy for most of October… very little piano… and I still haven’t finished my listening and comments from the last PW themed recital. BUT! I pledge to record something, none of my current pieces are ready but will try something from a couple of months ago!
