navindra I see, thanks for the details! It sounds like the kind of software where someone will fix small bugs pretty quickly ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with what many say here, and think this forum should ensure it stays civil.

If someone(s) posts comments that provide no value to the conversation, such as being antagonistic for the sake of it, then I say ban.

Examples (making some up here as well): โ€œthis is a stupid post.โ€ โ€œIt amazes me how some commenters here have no idea about spruce woodโ€ โ€œI think YOU are the one whoโ€™s mistaken.โ€ โ€œAnyone who knows music would know (fill in the blankโ€ โ€œOP is clearly just trying to get attentionโ€

You catch my drift ๐Ÿ™‚ for those, it comes across to me as projection, and hoping that by bringing down others, that it will somehow make them be perceived better which it doesnโ€™t.

I sincerely hope we manage that quickly in the unfortunate case that it does. Fingers crossed!

Thanks, navindra, for creating this new forum. I hope it becomes as popular as Piano World!

Hello ... just an old timer stopping by to say hello. I was active in the old PW more than 20 years ago but have rarely posted in recent years. Heard that there has been some drastic changes at PW and this is a break-away forum from PW, so I figure I'd register here if only for nostalgia. I wish this forum good luck.

Hello! It is a relief to have this lifeboat, in case the PianoWorld ship sinks - and it seems to me that the new owners are doing everything in their power to scuttle it. Thanks, Navindra!

hi!

I wasn't a PW member long and stopped being active when it was sold.

@navindra is there a way to add user location? Of course an optional field ๐Ÿ™‚ I always thought it was very useful to see where people were from if they are asking about local dealers, or even just to realize that some people are in the same town!

I love this site, it seems far simpler to navigate than a certain other site (which may soon become history, the way things are going). I was very pleased to find that I was able to upload my profile picture with no problems, something that the other site could not seem to cope with. I also love the chosen colour theme and the fact that members from the other site are identified with a gold star.
Thanks for all your hard work in creating and running this site.

So far, I love everything about this forum. Let me count the ways ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • Clean, modern look
  • No ads
  • More and more of the people I really like are making it across
  • So far, none of the people I personally found a little overbearing or intimidating signed up
  • No drama posts in sight
  • Draft saving of messages
  • Adding images is super easy
  • No limit to editing a post later
  • Works GREAT on mobile
  • Markup language editor
  • Nice amount of forum sections - not too many, not too few
  • Being able to "like" posts
  • And everything else!

Things I would like to see:

  • Dark theme
  • More response options - rather than like I'd love to see emoticons so we can respond to a post with ๐Ÿ™‚ or ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ or ๐Ÿ˜ข or ๐Ÿ˜† etc
  • That's all I can think of ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sophia Things I would like to see:

    Dark theme

There should be a night mode option available, @navindra might need to enable it.

And quoting is a lot easier here!

When I click on the Piano Tell link on the top banner, I would expect that to refresh the site...but it does not. I have to use the refresh button on the browser. Is that an option that can be implemented, or is it just how this forum software works?

Is there a way to "ignore" an entire subforum? I feel like the easiest way to see new threads here is through the "All Discussions" button and if I could mute certain subforums it would be awesome!

navindra thank you! Once I get it set up I'll add to tips & tricks ๐Ÿ™‚

JB_PT Currently it's a link to the front page, so that's what should happen when you click it... it should load the frontpage no matter where you are. What happens in your case?

In forums, you should see the refresh button next to the "mark all read" button in the top right:

@navindra bummer, I just tried it and I was hoping to see the posts with new threads indicated! I'll just keep using "all discussions" for now and mute the threads I'm not interested in.
