Hi! What does it mean to be a gold star member?

ShiroKuro It's a little bit of fun flair, but more importantly, I think of it as a way for folks to come in here with the reputation of being regular Piano World members.

Often folks start on new forums with zero reputation, but I wanted to help maintain a sense of continuity and community from Piano World.

Let me know if you have any ideas on how I might improve on this. πŸ™‚

      Cool, thanks! (I’m fancy, I have I a gold star… πŸ˜„

      Gold star, please πŸ˜‚

Was looking at the profile defaults and would suggest changing default to private (can't see when online) by default and to enable autosave of post drafts for everyone by default. That's a huge benefit!

@navindra is there any private messaging available on this forum?

Please give me a gold star as well! πŸ™‚

@navindra is there a setting to automatically follow a new thread that I create? Thanks! πŸ™‚

I wish you luck. I really hope your forum takes off.

twocats That's a really good question. My first reaction was that this should exist already, but apparently not. The best I can see in Notification settings is that I can get a notification if someone replies to one of my posts, but it's not quite the Following functionality. I'll add this to my list of questions for Flarum and get back.

navindra I turned off "automatically follow any thread that I respond to" but one would think that I would automatically follow a thread that I start!

navindra thank you! Just wondering, is Flarum a relatively new forum interface? I'm a little surprised at some of the things that have come up!

twocats Yes, in the scheme of things, Flarum is quite new.

At its core, Flarum functionality is very basic, but then you can add on extensions for additional functionality. There are many extensions, which is nice, but at the same time, they can be of uneven quality because they might be developed independently... it's an open contribution model.

In this case, Subscriptions is a core extension but is missing this setting for some reason. The two options would be to find another extension that adds the missing functionality or I'd probably have to go deep into the code.

Flarum 2 may be coming in 2025, so maybe we'll be seeing some nice improvements then?
