I’m over here in the Colorado mountains, and brought with me my portable keyboard setup, specifically for travel. This is my way of maintaining my PACT (playing piano everyday) even if I’m traveling.
I’m using the following:
- M-Audio Keystation 88. Terrible action but weights only 13 pounds, and powered by USB. And hey it’s 88 keys.
- NewQ USB hub to connect my earphones and keyboard into the iPad.
- iPad loaded with Pianoteq.
- Shure SE846 earphones.
While the action is pretty fake, the audio coming out of this sounds sublime, for a travel piano. After playing a bit on the 280VC and Bluthner on Pianoteq, I was immersed in the music.
Technology has come extraordinarily far, to allow me to get some really nice piano sounds and experience, without plugging anything into an outlet, and all the equipment weighing less than 20 pounds total!
Okay back to playing some more, and exploring the mountains in a bit!
