BartK Yes, you are correct that it comes from Seinfield. But MOYD started ages and ages ago at PW's ABF, and I am pretty sure that at one point, someone wrote MYOD in the thread title accidentally, and then it just stayed that way for a few years. Probably someone fixed it after that and then it's been back to MOYD...

In any case, MOYP and MYOP are both easy to say, so I don't care either way 🙂

If the piano were my only creative outlet, I'd probably play a lot more. But, I also play guitar. And, I have so many other things that require my attention, creatively speaking, that to try and divide them up into some kind of schedule would never work for me.

Is having an acronym going to inspire people to practice more? Isn't Daily Practice Challenge descriptive enough?

BTW as acronyms go, DPC/Daily Practice Challenge is really good. It's descriptive, and DPC sounds really good in my head.

I was half joking, but half not 😉 I don't feel the need to practice piano daily but I have been struggling with going to bed at a reasonable hour for many, many years, with only short spans of success. Recently I've been more determined to prioritize it due to its effects on my health as well as seeing how lack of sleep has been ruining my practice efficiency! So it is something that does affect my piano practice.

So if I'm allowed to join with my own "daily measure of success" for something that has been a huge personal challenge for me and does affect my piano improvement, I would join. But I also understand and accept it if folks want this to strictly be a daily piano practice 🙂

twocats I find midnight to one to be a reasonable hour for me; seems to fit my Circadian rhythm, and if I were to attempt to alter it, well, I think that would be unhealthy, for me. And, I wouldn't have rhythm, like I do now.

Pallas, not sure, but thank you for the kind inquiry.

Probably the biggest motivation at the moment is knowing I gotta play something soon (in public) and don't wanna screw it up too badly.

Pallas "I will practice piano for some amount of time every day (ANY amount. That could be all day. Or 1 hour. Or 30 minutes. Or 5 minutes. Literally any amount of time would count). That way, we are practicing accountability on the same simple, tangible, obvious thing. You either did it, or you didn't, and you have to make your excuse (sick, away, injured, The Bear was on). I don'tI even care if it's 30 seconds, honestly. The intention is to hold yourself accountable in some way that you struggle to do on your own.

I like it! It's an accountability aid, period. Some people don't need it. I do. Or did? I think the accountable-for-every day-thing has morphed into a habit. Yeah! 👍

Well, we're very close to going "live". There are a few details still to work out, but we're getting there! I'd like to verify the ones who expressed an interest 🙂

@Sophia - Well, I’d be happy enough to cheer from the sidelines, but if I’m being very honest, I can’t remember the last day I missed playing. So I’m happy to participate!

I am unlikely to participate as there is one day every week I am just unable to practice, although I try to get hands on the keyboard every day, even if it is just to run a scale or two, on my 'off' day.

If that doesn't disqualify my opinion, I love PANDA, mostly because this (a rather spendy toy my dog utterly rejected - the brat) happens to be holding down the cover on my piano, but I see some great suggestions. PACT24, CODA and KOPPED are particular favourites.

Wow, that's so awesome. I too love those acronyms. There is nothing to prevent us from renaming the DPC at any time in the future - we can go ahead with what we have in the meantime. Funny you picked the ones I like the best too!! <high five>
