Dampp Chaser question

I'm sorry if this is a FAQ, but I don't see a search facility on PianoTell (is there one?).
I understand how the Dampp Chaser can add humidity to the environment in close proximity to the soundboard of the piano. How does it remove humidity when the general RH is higher than ideal? Is it simply the presence of the slightly warm metal bars? If so, it must switch off the bar that supports the damp pad. Thanks.

It's not super obvious! I'll add it to my tips thread.

You have to go to the Home Page and then click on the top left. Then there's a search box.

pseudonym58 FWIW, I’ve got a DC system, and I’m very happy with it. I think MRC answered the question about the dehumidification component, but if you’ve got further questions, please feel free to ask.

The humidifier and dehumidifier are separate. When the dehumidifier is working, the long rods heat the air while the shorter heating rod that holds the pads is turned off. When humidifying, it's the other way round.

I figured that was the way the system worked. I have it installed on my piano as well; Connecticut certainly has its share of both humid and dry weather.

Is anybody looking for Dampp Chaser unit that fits on the back of an upright?

I have a new one in the box, never opened.
