It's amazing how well the forum has grown without even being googlable yet! But I think the best thing would be for it to show up when people google "piano forum", or "piano message board".

+100, I was going to suggest the same! Don’t need to go crazy with white on white hidden text, but some basic SEO like a byline “Piano Tell — piano forum for all” or something to that extent should help.

The oddest, and probably not ideal issue is if I search “piano tell”, the site does show up, but all of the second-level results are to user profile pages, like SamS. That’s probably not what anyone wants.

One way of getting google to take notice is for all members to do this simple thing. Go into to Google and type in the address fully in the search bar then hit return. If we all do this each time for say a week eventually the search will being to register and trigger a bot call to the site.

I'm wondering if the cache is set to a little too aggressive? Sometimes when I visit the P|T/all page, it shows me notifications and/or updates of two days ago unless I manually refresh the page. And if I click "private messages" for example, it will show me all conversations and when I click back to all conversations, it'll stubbornly stay with the PM page.

No idea if they are related, but I was just thinking that perhaps bots are not getting current information and might be more inclined to dismiss the site if it thinks it isn't active?

Hmm, I've been seeing this as well. In fact, sometimes I'll have clicked through all my notifications to clean them out (I'm a very inbox-zero kind of guy), and if I then hit refresh, some of the marked-as-read notifications will again be shown as new, even though I know I specifically cleared them out.

Gombessa by the way, if you want to clear them all you can click on the checkbox on the top right (at least on mobile)!

Gombessa I also like a clean inbox, so I get it! 😂

Killomiter I'm going to start doing this every five minutes. 😃

At the moment, in google searches, my search engine comes up with:

            LINK

... which then gets us to PT when we click on the link on that first post.

But after some time, weeks/days etc, PT will eventually show up in regular google search.

There's probably no escape from PT eventually showing up in google searches later. No escape. Their bots will sure of that.

I gave up on Google search years ago; many years ago. I use Duckduckgo. And I just searched for "piano forum" and this forum was the fifth one listed. Pretty good, I'd say.

While the topic does indeed say 'Google search not showing Pianotell' - so obviously relates to google, so my previous post indeed did relate to google search - it is also interesting in that other search engines do have Piano Tell show up already. For example with Bing -- a search for 'Piano Tell' has PT at the top of the list.

            Eg. LINK - BING

Wow, that's an improvement, thanks all for working your magic!

If "piano forum" is returning PT as a result on Bing/DDG, that is a nice win!

I think the page rank on Google is finally starting to recover as well. We were indexed but not ranking except for direct searches like pianotell.com... which is of no value. Now I'm starting to see results with looser search terms. I guess all the links and sigs from PW are helping lift the rank. 🙂

Sophia Gombessa Just so that I understand, you're opening a browser window (on mobile or desktop?) and it's loading with stale content? This is not just some window that's already open — it's actually a freshly loaded page that has stale content?

It looks like we're good now.

Piano Tell is now the first hit on my google search on my mobile/cell phone firefox browser.

Can confirm that a Google search for "piano tell" now shows this forum on the second line or so! Yay!

It seems like this issue is unrelated to the search, but yes, that's exactly the behaviour. For example this morning I opened the site (linked to it, not a stale site) and it showed content from 16 hours ago. Then when I clicked Private Discussions, it still shows that same view (see picture)

Only when I manually hit refresh did it show the actual updated site, latest post being 30 minutes ago or so. This is on my Windows desktop PC using the Chrome browser, I'm not sure if the same happens on my S24 Ultra using the Samsung browser... (edit: yes, it happens there too, exactly the same).

And here's another example, fresh from the press. I added a post to two topics in this forum after I wrote this one, but it's still showing the old information when I browse to "All Discussions":

I Googled "piano tell" just now and the forum came up as the first result. 🙂
