The Yamaha P-125 keyboard is in a room with lots of natural light from the windows during the day. It's plugged into an old Harman/Kadon stereo system with 2 Infinity speakers.

The demo piece is the Aria #61 from Bach Matthew Passion (BWV244) played with the organ sound.

WieWaldi It's high up on floor 23. Not sure if it makes a difference to the sound acoustics. Certainly great for TV reception when you point an antenna near the window. I pick up stations up to 100 km away.

Here's my new piano and bench. The piano is fairly compact and has no extras, but there is real depth to the sound - it is in a different league from my Casio. It has a full set of pedals and the controls are at the back to save space (which means there's no visual clutter, but you have to reach over to the back of the piano to turn it on or adjust the volume - a small trade off).
The bench was a lot cheaper than many, but seems really sturdy and is very comfortable. I don't particularly like the look of the gap when it's at full height, but I really need the height because I am short from the waist up, but have very long legs, so I have the bench at the highest setting that is usually used for children! 😄 I'm very pleased with both items, which are already making my practice sessions so much more enjoyable.

Nightowl That is a really nice looking piano!

My DP setup! Very messy indeed with all those cords in the back entangled. And I put the secondary monitor precariously on top of the VCP1, which is notorious for its non-flat surface 🙂

      Thanks, Rogerch and Pallas.

TC3 - it looks like you have two dedicated music rooms - so much scope there for a keen musician. I love the look of that white piano... the curves are lovely and the cat looks perfect.

Sophia - does your Clavinova have a sliding dust cover? It's great that it's lasted a quarter of a century, so many electrical things are not built to last these days.

Thanks! Yes, the raspberry room is the rehearsal space; my wife's drum sets are on the other side of the room:

@Nightowl That's one very spiffy looking piano... and as you said, such a huge step up from your little Casio! Who knows, one day your dream of an acoustic may come true. Meanwhile, don't think I'm not jealous because every single Alfredo has a better and/or newer piano than I do now 🙂

As for your question, yes, it does have a sliding cover, but the piano has always been somewhat of an ornament so we always kept it open. Even now! However my husband has had it apart a few times to clean the innards thoroughly. Also he changed the transformer when he moved from the UK to Canada because of the 110V here. Most recently he performed some magic with the pedals so that they aren't quite as loud as they were when I first started using them. It's not been thoroughly neglected all these years, just didn't get played 🙂

TC that's a lovely setup you have! The wall colours are so tasteful and pleasant - and so are the instruments. I just noticed I never remarked on your white piano - but @Nightowl will attest that I did so behind your back because when she was looking for a piano that would have to look good, I told her that yours is quite striking 😃 Your wife is quite the drummer! (I watched your latest video just now).

Yes Sophia did remark on how lovely the white piano is, and I feel the same way, but sadly we don't have room for such a glamorous instrument. I'm happy with my choice but I do love the curves of a traditional piano, especially the classic grand piano shape.

Sophia - I hadn't realised the Clavinova was your husband's piano originally - is he a pianist too? He seems multi talented. My husband has many skills but is not musical, it must be great to share the passion for music with your partner.

Nightowl is he a pianist too?

Thankfully, he's not 🙂 But he was an organ builder for a while and he got it through the company he worked for 😃

Thank you! My wife's first career was arts & crafts teacher, so she's not afraid of color. 😃 She and I are both music school drop-outs, and we're quite pleased to keep up with it as a hobby we can share together.
