Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be extremely busy. I want to do all of this:
Wrap up my winter pieces : 1) Schumann Melody, get a good-enough recording. 2) Petzold Minuet in G major, same. 3) Finish details of Always With Me (elementary Joe Hisaishi piece) and make good-enough recording
Start my spring pieces: 1) Baroque: Petzold Minuet in G minor; 2) Romantic: Schumann Soldier's March; and 3) pick a new piece. I'm trying to decide between Jessica's Sonata from The Man From Snowy River (after Melody, this now looks do-able), Married Life from Up, or another Joe Hisaishi piece (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, elementary arrangement.) My main interest has always been building toward advanced solo piano arrangements of film scores. It's my jam.
Once I get Minuet in G minor, I'm going to circle back around and polish G Major and G minor so I can play them as a pair.
I hit a place in my winter pieces where I just felt like I was bouncing off of them playing whack-a mole with roving mistakes, and my notes have become overwhelming, so I spent time today retiring the notes I've addressed to get a cleaner slate. I have to review my Molly Gebrian notes and figure out how to deal with the whack-a mole. I think it's random practice by section.
For the first time, I'm contemplating keeping my winter pieces in my repertoire for a while so I can give my husband and maybe some friends a tiny recital. I have a friend who plays Chopin who also wants to play for a little joint dinner party. I can make her look extra good by going first. 😝
