I'm really disappointed for Duets. Based on discussions, I thought that this theme would get more votes. Oh well!

A duet is not easy to put together. You need to play a 2nd instrument or get someone to practice together. Finding 2 people who work well together is not easy.

I'm surprised at Mozart - not exactly overflowing with music for beginners or even intermediates. I know, too easy for kids, too hard for adults.

Sam Perhaps beginners are thinking about arrangements? I don't love arrangements of classical pieces, but I would tolerate learning one if it helped me participate.

Sam In the second Thompson book there is a delightful theme from Don Giovanni. It's a bit of a stretch for me still, but a few months from now I think it will definitely be doable. I'm absolutely sure it's an arrangement, but it makes me smile (and cry, because it's still so hard) any time I try to play it.

Actually, I disagree. I don't think Mozart has less easy music than any of the other composers we had in previous recitals. I have a whole book filled with easy dances, sonatinas, and other pieces half a page to a page long. I think there is plenty for beginners and intermediates to work with.

I know that it is new and fun to participate on this new forum, but we are discussing something that will take place at Piano World, not here. The poll we are discussing is taking place at Piano World, not here. I hope that when the time comes for these recitals to take place - at Piano World - that participation will be at Piano World, including any comments or discussions about the recitals.

Sam I totally understand that this thread is about PianoWorld. The thread I started recently discussing style / structure / and so forth was a proposal to create PianoTell recitals, not suggestions to change PianoWorld recitals. This isn't my forum, and neither is PW, of course, so I'm not in charge of anything. But I am enjoying PianoTell and hearing other people talk about their ideas for this forum. Thank you so much for the clarification.

Okay, sure.

You can play with yourself. I did that many times, recording myself playing one part and then playing it back on headphones while I'm playing the other part on the piano, then synchronizing the recordings in post processing. It's fun!

All jokes aside. Yes it's great fun and it does wonders for your timing! If you thought you were accurate before, recording a duet with yourself exposes every single flaw you didn't even know you had 🙂
