This is not a recommendation for studying the classical piano literature specifically, but rather some options for getting into classical music. For me, playing piano and enjoying classical music more generally go hand in hand. I find that I have a greater understanding for what composers are doing, when I understand the broader musical context that they were working in.
So… if you live in an area where there are live concerts, go to concerts! If there’s a good music school near you, there will be student recitals, some of which are open to the public. And/or support your local symphony, chamber music societies, etc.
Radio. My dad grew up in Chicagoland, and I went to college there. The best US classical music station that I know of is wfmt. They have fantastic programming. For years, you’ve been able to stream it from anywhere.
If you want to start going more in depth, I would think about looking for a book on the history of classical music, and listening to the music that is discussed in the text. The history is interesting, and approaching it from a historical perspective provides a framework for understanding how the tradition evolved and how sound worlds changed over time. You could also go the theory route, but I find the historical route is considerably more approachable. And you can do theory down the road. Just some thoughts!
