Beginners blues/boogie/rock discussion
WieWaldi Theory made audible!
Not only that, but now that I started the lesson, I realize he introduces - very sneakily and without saying it - FINGER PEDALING! The sheet music doesn't tell you so:
But if you watch closely, you can see he definitely applies it. I would forever have wondered why his sounds so smooth and mine so choppy, if Alfred hadn't taught me finger pedaling already
What is finger pedaling?
I mean, both hand are on the keyboard, not on the floor.
So you want to leave me hanging with choppy playing?
Too advanced?!? I am at same level than you, still a total beginnerTM. For at least 12 more lessons, or 4 more easy pieces. Whatever happens first. And the gap to you is shrinking every day.
Never forget:

My speed: ..............
Your energy:

Awwwwwwwww! In that case, I will share the secret. Add some bubble gum to your left pinkie. Then play the C chord - your pinkie will stay glued to the key. Then play the other two notes... while the pinkie is still down. There you have it: sticky finger playing.
You have to admit: this is almost a better trick than sticking playing cards in between keys, right?
Actually, it sould look like this:
or this
instead like this:
But it is blues genre. And here the freedom of the interpret is higher than with classical music, where everything is noted down explicitely correctly.
Sophia It gives you a reason to follow the Alfred books yourself
How did Alfreds sheet music look like?

I am grumpy, today...
I've got a new computer and wanted to move my trusted video software from the old machine to the new one. The manual said, deinstall the software from the old computer first, then the registration key is free to be used on another computer.
I did. And then I got the message on the new computer, I can't use the registration key, because this one is only valid for an outdated version. The installer only permits to install the current version. And I kept the setup file of the old version - still it insists to install the current one. And for the current version, I must buy a new license. But I get a discount for "only updating" the software.
And the best: In the help-center I could read - no matter what problem I face, it will be very likely fixed with the current version.
Okay, NCHsoftware - Goodbye Videopad.

Hello DaVinci Resolve
(just downloaded the free version for a tryout)
I must admit - it is quite powerful. And this is just the free version. I am sure, I did a lot of rubbish in my edit and there are more elegant ways to solve it, but here it is. I am not even sure, where the project file is located.
My first DaVinci Resolve video
Of course, this one isn't about proper playing, or nice playing, or something pianistic, or something else the classical crowd is craving for. No - I just wanted to test a new video editing software and I needed some footage.

So, I'll answer in three parts.
Part 1 - Videopad
Your software issue can only be summed as
What a bummer! I would never even look at such crooks again... GOOD RIDDANCE!
Part 2 - DaVinci Resolve
Welcome to the dark side! We have cookies and champagne! I haven't encountered anything yet that the DaVinci free version can't do. Each time I upload a video, I spend 20 minutes searching for video manuals that explain exactly what I want, then three hours sifting through all the complicated stuff I don't want, and then another hour trying to follow the tutorial - watch, say "what?" rewind, squint my eyes, WHAT button did he push? swear, rinse repeat.
I'm so very excited that from now on, all I need to do is watch your videos and say "how did you do <insert neat trick>?" I can't wait to see the artist at work! (already seeing things in your FIRST video that took me months to learn it was even possible at all)
Part 3 - Lesson 10
Oh that was DELIGHTFUL! Chuck Berry, move over the new Rock & Roll King is in town!!! In fact, my husband (who positively hates rock) came in while I was watching, and he immediately said "That's delightful! Can you get the music for that???" So I told him I already do - all I need to do is reach that lesson
Part 3b - Bonus
That was really fast!!!! EXCEPTIONALLY Fast!!! Let me refresh your memory: you only finished lesson 9 TWELVE DAYS ago. Twelve. In fact, I finished my lesson one day BEFORE you. Now, YOU uploaded an almost flawless, long, very relaxed and lovely lesson. And me? I just got a little comfortable with the left hand and added the first right hand lick THIS MORNING. The first of a total of eight, and then an ending. I will be with this lesson for at least another month.
Sophia Part 2 - DaVinci Resolve
I am happy to be at the dark side. Blue is dark, is it? Well, a lot of the stuff in the video was what I learned from the other software. So I knew, what to look for. And yes - I watched a lot of YouTube tutorial snippets to get there. Took me 4 hours of editing. But I'll stick to it - it should be faster and faster ever time. And I hope I'll learn the software more propery, being able to do more and better stuff.
Just gimme some time to learn, I'll show you then
Sophia Part 3 - Lesson 10
Oh that was DELIGHTFUL!
Thank you very much. You make be blush
Well, this wasn't Rock'n Roll. It was good old Blues. Maybe quick Blues, a relative to Boogie. Let's say a great-great-great-grandfather. Anyway, next lesson is Boogie-Woogie for bloody beginnersTM.
But first I have to learn two recital pieces.
Sophia Part 3b - Bonus
That was really fast!!!!...
I told you, the left hand was quite easy to learn. Same fingering as the Humptee-Dumptee-Extended. Exactly same fingering. And the rest was well known stuff. Except the 4 finger chords maybe. But they were quite repeating during the lesson. Christian told, now is about the point where things are getting more complicated. He rans out of simple patterns that work well on C7,F7 and G7 altogether. He said, he started that easy to get clicks and to lure people into his course. All in all, I think he is an exeptional good internet teacher. And on top of that - we learn piano without classical music. Only his concealing about proper pedaling. And finger pedaling - he never used that term and didn't explain it. But well, we have ears, we are in a forum, and we should be able to find out and tell each other.
