Josephine I love it too! Perhaps Meta (which I always thought a little ugly as a name) could be renamed to PianoTell Pub?

I'm not sure what I did. First I edited my post, but after that I decided to delete it. I think I also flagged it.

Josephine I had replied to it but then it was gone so I deleted my reply too πŸ˜‚

Is PT's clock on UTC or some other static time zone?

Sometimes I'll refresh a page, and a forum's last post or reply will jump from "2 hours ago" to "1 day ago". The skip implies 24 hours has passed when in reality it's only been a few hours. And also, it's still bright and sunny in the afternoon for me when it flips to "a day ago" so it seems really odd to suggest a day has passed.

I assume the last-updated logic counts in minutes/hours until the server's internal clock changes date, and then it reports all posts made in the last day (even if a few seconds ago) as a day old? I also didn't see a way in my profile to set a time zone, so there's no way to align it with local time either.

Is this something that can be adjusted/improved upon?

Gombessa I don't know, to me it always shows CET (so it's my time zone - I'm in Poland), even if I'm not logged in

Gombessa I'm guessing it has something to do with refresh optimization and it isn't always up to date. Hopefully with moving from FreeFlarum to a webhost this weekend some of these weird issues will resolve themselves? Fingers crossed!

I've got a lot of catching up to do!

When @Gombessa first mentioned the [deleted] issue, I started seeing the same thing a couple of times. I have to admit, it immediately caused me to panic. I haven't seen that happen recently. I haven't noticed any issues with the TZ. I do believe the server is UTC, but the Flarum seems to be able to detect the browser time just fine. I wonder if Cloudflare caching could have something to do with it.

I would definitely say, let's move to the new host, see how many of these issues repro, and then go from there.

As for the suggestions on re-organizing or banishing the hierarchy, here are some random thoughts:

        • It may be true that most people ultimately use the All Discussions view most of the time. This is probably why Flarum ships the way it does. You can see PC as an example of the default Flarum view.
        • Even so, I believe the lack of explicit Forums to be disorienting. The hierarchy I think helps with a top-level view of what's going on. It helps you zoom in where you want to. Even if most of the time you are using the flat view, I believe defaulting to the Forum view helps ground things. I'm not sure how best to explain this, it's just my feeling, and it could just be from years of using hierarchical forums.
        • On the other hand, the selection of Forums will never be perfect. You can see evidence of this on PW where there are just too many useless forums. For ambiguous situations, I'd suggest we pick the closest match... acoustics pianos with tech should go in the acoustic forum, for example. Digital pianos with hybrid components, MIDI devices, etc should go to the digital forum... just make your pick. πŸ™‚
        • That being said, I'm pretty sure we can evolve this. For this V0.1 of PianoTell, I consciously decided not to use too many tags, sub-tags, and secondary tags... but there are still many possibilities to be explored. For example, I can easily keep Pianist Zone but add sub-tags for classical and non-classical. Still the same forum, but you can filter down if you want to.

Anyway, after the move, I'll make a proper pass over this thread and follow up on specifics! πŸ˜ƒ

Would it be possible to have a feature to "bookmark" or "favorite" particular posts (not full thread) to my profile so that I can easily go back to them later?

Is there a way to not get notifications when people you have on ignore quote you? I’m getting a notification from someone who I’ve put on ignore, and, unfortunately, when they quote me, I can still see what they are saying in my notifications. I’d rather have nothing from them whatsoever. Is that possible?

Taushi Yes, that sounds very reasonable. I see no reason why that wouldn't be possible, it's just that the extension that we are using does not support it... but it should be something I can add or else find another extension that has more functionality.

There are quite a few requests in terms of Ignore functionality. I'll add this to the tracking and see if I can make progress on addressing the requests.
