Nightowl somehow it is not as daunting now and I'm quite enjoying it
Whooo hoooo, progress!!! Yes, that is a VERY hard piece, as is everything Chopin 😃 And it's not simplified either, that's the real deal! I haven't gone back to it just yet, but I found myself in a similar situation. In fact, I wanted it to be one of my previous recital pieces and decided it was too hard to learn in time. Then I settled for a piece later in the book, but infinitely less difficult to play (Fascination).
I can't wait to be free of Alfred either, though it won't be next month just yet ^_^ I'm thinking probably another two months or so.... but I'm not in a rush and don't feel the need to hasten to the end. It'll get done when it gets done, and that's all there is to it.
Also I can't tell you how excited I am that you are considering a teacher! I know, that might sound a little hypocritical of me because I don't have one, but trust me, that's not for lack of wanting to learn things the right way. I honestly think you will benefit a LOT from having a teacher at your current stage in learning... so I would wholeheartedly encourage you to try and fine one. You are making such great progress and you have come so far on your own, but... yeah. I think it might be the right time for you to get at least a few professional lessons. Now I'm all jealous of you 🙂
