navindra I'm curious about how you can see more at once on PW, could you share an example?

Perhaps what I am saying is that I feel that the lines "X likes this" and "X replied to this" take up too much space vertically, leading to unnecessarily large spacing between posts. Couldn't these "likes this" and "replied to" go at the side somewhere?

Also, the space between posts is rather large. Couldn't you reduce this a bit? Then I could see more posts at once without having to scroll quite so much.

Unfortunately this is probably just how the forum software layout is, and there probably isn't any customizability. Hopefully I'm wrong, though! I'd also like to see everything be just a little more compact.

I disagree. I think the tech forum is in some ways the most important, because a healthy tech forum adds weight and credibility to the whole site. If Piano Tell is to be a success we need to encourage techs to post here. I think the tech forum should be as high up the list as possible.

A lot of techs only hang out in the tech forum, so my opinion is that it should exist but they'll probably mostly be only checking there anyway and not looking at the list to find that forum every time, so it doesn't need to be very high up. But I agree that tech activity and expertise would add credibility to this site!

David-G I would love nothing better than to welcome Techs here! They are definitely one of the best parts of the community at PW. I'm not so sure changing the order of the forums would do anything for that though and at the moment most people here are not techs. Will keep this in mind to revisit.

twocats I think it would be completely possible to tweak the layout because Flarum allows me to customize the CSS... this one won't be at the top of the list at the moment though, as I've got a few things to work through but I'll definitely keep track of this one.

I found the PT easier to get around than PW and the flow seems more intuitive. A couple of suggestions to improve the user experience: 1) when clicking on a thread, it’d be nice to be able to jump directly to the “new to you” posts rather than to the beginning of the thread. PW has this functionality. 2) within a thread, it’ll be great if comments on a particular post are positioned under that post instead of mixed with other posts and comments. PW doesn’t have this feature.

I like having the replies to posts as they are currently. Otherwise I have to go through each post to if there's something new there. As it stands, I can just scroll down to the most recent post.

I personally prefer the like function, as it can emote my opinion towards a post, versus create a whole new post to say that I like it.

Personally I don't care about the "reply" field if someone has replied to that post. I think if @navindra eventually has time to look at formatting, removing that and moving the likes there could save a line!
