In our new house, the piano will sit over a crawl space. Thereās not quite a meter of clearance down there, but someone could be down there and work under the floor boards if needed. Which I say because it has occurred to me that we could shore up the joists (say by installing supports that run perpendicular to the joists etc.).
But installing a vertical support beam probably would not work ā well or I should say, it would probably be a huge and expensive task.
Iām hoping that weāll stay in this house a long time, and Iām hoping that we wonāt notice the floor sagging over time. As I think I said above, in our old house, we were only there for 4 years, and the floor was not sagging, but maybe thatās not long enough.
Oh and re the pianoās weight, I googled, and my piano is not all that much lighter than yours, probably only about 20 kgs lighter.
