ShiroKuro Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed it. My wife is pretty awesome. 🙂
Ha, I should be easy on our guitarist. He has no background whatsoever in music, outside of singing Karaoke. I think it's great that he wanted to take up a whole new activity in his 50s and let me teach him some basics.
But he also struggles with things I thought were fairly average and simple. For example, I think he just generally lacks much digital dexterity. It's often very difficult for him to move his fingers accurately, even after lots of practice. He's still having trouble with some simple open chords, even though he's been playing two and a half years now.
The thing is, I can deal with that. We all start somewhere and we all come with our own level of natural aptitude, so I'm willing to work with him. What bugs me is when he doesn't take things as seriously as I'd like. I understand that he's a busy adult and that this is just a hobby, but sometimes he's frankly just a bit lazy ...
Anyway, it's all just for fun, and I have no interest in serious paying gigs for a general public anymore (been there, done that), so as long as we have a good time and our friends don't throw rotten tomatoes at us, it's all good. 🙂 And in the meantime, we have a little side project starting up with our guest guitarist, so that should scratch whatever itch I have leftover from the main band.
