TC3 I'm discovering that the version I bought as a stand-alone tune is probably not all that great ... I'm looking at the version in the collected works book and seeing those notes are supposed to be in the LH in the first place!
Can I ask what version you bought, or where you bought it? I have the paper version from the Sheet Music Collection, and I also bought a digital version from Sheet Music Direct that’s listed as the official ABRSM version for their 2025 and 2026 syllabus. I bought the SMD version because I wanted to see the fingerings, but ironically I don’t like how it looks with all those fingerings marked in (even though most of them are the same as the fingerings I chose!) so I’m playing from the paper version. I have only compared the two scores visually (IOW, not at the piano), but they seem to be exactly the same, both in terms of layout (two pages, number of measures per line) and also in terms of the arrangement (i.e., all the notes are in the same clefs between both scores).
Also: I'm looking at several performances online, and I'm not seeing anyone really holding those downbeat bass notes -- they're just using pedal, even when it allows for some overlapping harmonies. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me!
Regarding pedaling and fingering decisions, I am also going to be relying on the pedal a lot. I generally rely on the pedal to give my hands/fingers a break, but also I like the overlapping harmonies (that might be because just because of listening to lots of post classical piano music that is over-pedaled).
I could be wrong, but I also think that @rsl12 ’s fingering choices are a classical approach, e.g., not wanting to play that thumb-thumb-thumb sequence, and other fingering choices that facilitate “finger pedaling” as opposed to relying more on the pedal itself.
