One more update: I had my lesson yesterday. My jury is on May 2nd, so thereās one more lesson before then. My teacher told me not to play my jury piece for at least two days ā she actually wanted it to be three but I guess the look on my face made her walk that back a bit! š
She said I can of course work on other things, but she said I need some distance from it. Itās funny how resistant I a to the very idea! But I promised her I wouldnāt play it! š
She also said that a teacher once told her not to play a recital program for three days leading up to the recital. š³ So she would be playing those pieces for the first time in three days at the recital! š³š³ She said she did just that, and it was great.
But yeah, I think that would give me a heart attack, so weāre not going to do that before the jury itself.
Oh I forgot thereās another update. Yesterday, we played the piano that will most likely be the one I play for the jury. Itās a very nicely maintained S&S (unlike my lesson piano, which is a very old S&S grand š ) Iām really glad we did, one thing I noticed is that itās harder to make the melody line sing out on that piano than on my home piano or on the lesson piano. And somehow the pedaling feel is different⦠but Iām glad I got to play it. She also said I can play something before I start (like a scale) to remind myself of the piano. So another thing Iām going to do in the week before the jury is practice that little routine: sit down, play a scale, get settled, and then start.
This is crazy, I have no idea how to predict how nervous Iāll be. š¤£š¤£š¤£
