WieWaldi ranjit Usually, these fingerings are also meant for young children with very small hands spans.
I always thought, the fingering is whatever the author thinks is best (for himself).
I want to second ranjit here. I find that fingering in books geared toward beginning and lower intermediate levels definitely seem to assume smaller hand size. And since I have returned to Bach this month, Iโve already noticed it in the two different books Iโve been poking around. I think the Bach pieces at the AM notebook level are definitely notated by editors assuming the pieces are being played by children.
In terms of tempo, hereโs where HS can help, because by playing HS, you can try out different fingering options at a higher tempo.
As an aside, I used to get frustrated with the time it takes to settle on, and write in, my desired fingering. But now I try to view that as the most important prep work (which it is). I still wish it was less time consuming, but playing with consistent fingering is basically a way to fast track internalizing the music, so I now see it as time well-spent.
