Sadly I don't have space for a grand, and I think if I did I would feel frustrated that 95% of its time it would be played in silent mode.
I am not a fan of uprights, I've played enough to know. There could well be an exception but then once again it is going to be played in silent mode for 95% of the time. In my experience I prefer the action of my MP11SE.
I have thought seriously about a top of the range Kawai or Yamaha digital but they are all large either black or white imposing objects in your room. I do not like the black that many come in as default, especially the gloss black. I feel like this is me being fussy but It is as much about aesthetics of the room as it is the piano. I think Kawai's CA901 in rosewood is the closest thing I would like, but even then you can tell the rosewood is a veneer.
So many different wants pulling me in different directions. The Vidal feels like it could well be the answer. It is an expensive experiment that of course I am anxious about how well it will work from both a piano experience and aesthetic experience. So of course delays don't help when you have that anxiety.
I've paid my deposit, I take the risks. I just hope that jet fuel in europe doesn't run out before the delivery date.
