That must be some repertoire you're playing to literally knock the tops off the keys.. 😅

I bought the piano used a couple of years ago. Since then I've probably had a dozen or so keytops come loose or pop off. One cracked and snapped (I glued the two pieces back on separately). I'm not rough with the piano at all, this is a known issue; I've had a couple of tuners/technicians mention it. Fortunately keytops can be reglued temporarily with Elmer's, but it's starting to get annoying, and I don't want to have to worry about it while I'm playing. Once when another pianist was playing, a keytop popped off and shot across the room! 😆 The pianist was concerned that he had somehow broken the piano. I reassured him that it was a known defect and I would be taking care of it.
@ShiroKuro , I think that if your piano had this problem, you'd certainly know about it by now!

We both laughed, certainly. It resembled a slapstick comedy. Actually, we were making an informal recording of a piece my wife and I had commissioned from our friend, the composer Bruce Lazarus. Bruce plays piano, my wife the oboe, and I the cello. Here's the recording, minus the take where the keytop became airborne 😆.

Fixed and returned! 😆 These are called Tharan keytops. Odd name, to my mind.
Now I just have to get past my paranoia that a keytop will pop off into the middle of the room at the slightest provocation (No, don't look at it that way!)
