Pianotell Recital Schedule (Quarterly, PIYW, Winter Holiday)

Pianotell hosts three kinds of recitals, which are open to all levels, from beginners to professionals:

Quarterly Recital : This is the most popular. Every three months, everyone is invited to share a recording of their piano-playing. All genres. Submissions must be made prior to the publication date shown on the schedule below. On the publication date, everyone's submissions become visible to the public. (Example)

Play It Your Way (PIYW): The title of a particular piece or song is announced, and participants prepare and record themselves playing a version of that piece. The genre of the selected piece rotates according to the schedule below. On the publication date, which is two months after the announcement, everyone's submissions become visible to the public. But submissions can be made at any time, including after the publication dates shown on the schedule. (Example)

Winter Holiday Recital : An informal recital that starts at the beginning of December, where participants share recordings of winter holiday music. Submissions are visible as soon as they are posted, and can be made at any time on the Holiday Recital post. (Example)

The publication dates for Pianotell recitals are shown below. All recitals are published on the 15th of the month except the Winter Holiday Recitals, which open at the beginning of December.

Jan 2026: Classical PIYW (announced Nov 2025)
Feb 2026: Quarterly Recital
Mar 2026: Popular PIYW (announced Jan 2026)
Apr 2026: TV, Movie, or Showtune PIYW (announced Feb 2026)
May 2026: Quarterly Recital
Jun 2026: Blues or Traditional PIYW (announced Apr 2026)
Jul 2026: Classical PIYW (announced May 2026)
Aug 2026: Quarterly Recital
Sep 2026: Post-Classical PIYW (announced Jul 2026)
Oct 2026: Jazz or Ragtime PIYW (announced Aug 2026)
Nov 2026: Quarterly Recital
Dec 2026: Winter Holiday Recital and Holiday PIYW (announced Oct 2026)

Description of some confusing PIYW genre names
Classical: All periods, from Baroque to Avant-garde.
Post-Classical: As described on this website. Example composers include Yiruma, Einaudi, Richter, and Ffrench.
Popular: Anything that would show up in a billboard Top 40 list, including pop, rock, country, R&B, soul, hip hop, etc. Anything from 1950-present.

Thank goodness you published the recital details for 2027... because that enables me to plan ahead for two years. I can now create detailed spreadsheets covering all my recital pieces, along with timetables showing timed modules for every aspect of each practice session. I can arrange my sheet music into recital date order, then put it into files and buy a new bookcase if necessary. Or not. 😁

Seriously though, thanks for keeping us so well informed, even if people don't want to think that far ahead they might refer to that list periodically. 🙂

rsl12 I have a 5 year plan for some of my repertoire. I perked up at the mention of a spreadsheet as that would have been very exciting for me 😂

twocats It seems we're polar opposites in this matter - during my work life I avoided spreadsheets like the plague! Ah well, like Shakespeare said "One man's meat is another man's poison". Anyway, it would be a dull world if we all thought the same. 🙂

Plan! I have specific goals and some big pieces will take a couple of years, so I have my solo repertoire planned out in a way that won't be too stressful and also gives me time to play chamber music. Some of the pieces are subject to change as I always find new ones to be obsessed with though! 🙂

No spreadsheet though, everything's just in a document 😆
