rsl12 Good that we have an opportunity to play classical as part of PIYW but it struck me that there was little in the way of being able to make things easier for oneself apart from leaving out ornaments or slowing tempo.

I am now encountering another difficulty trying to record for the February recital. The mobile phone on which I record is on a 'go slow' and sometimes it takes up to a minute when it needs to refocus the picture.

I think Sophia's method was good too--just take a snippet and work on that.

Twocats made the point a while ago that, if we pick a famous non-piano classical piece, there will probably be lots of piano versions that cater to all levels. That was certainly true for Pachelbell's Canon, which had lots of participation. I like that idea, but I enjoyed doing an actual piano piece like the Haydn, where we could talk about specific technical issues. Hopefully we'll do a bit of both in the future.

Good work @Sophia. The trills are great. Nice playing, it sounds confident, even if you thought it was a little slow. After watching your hand movements, I feel like I can probably tackle this movement in the near future!

@keff , I like your piano’s sound. I won’t comment on your playing, you’ve said not to say anything 😉
@KevinM , nice playing. I’d probably consider adding a little bit of reverb to the piano sound (or maybe its because it was playing softly on my computer). The last movement is on point.

@twocats , that was great playing, I couldn’t keep track of your fingers at times. One comment, you have a beautiful piano, but the sound seems to be come through a bit muted. Is it because of where the recording device is ? (Closer to under the piano rather than on top?).

I think the recording is bad because it's just an old iPad that I set up next to the piano at a decent viewing angle. The iPad microphone is not a very good one, but if I had to put more work into using my good recorder, it would be too much effort. So unfortunately I submit low quality recordings to participate! 🙂

That either means you think my classical playing is good, or my classical playing needs practice!

Unfortunately for everyone here, I tend to play the things that need practice. Which means a lot more of my singing in the future!

It was meant quite positively, your classical playing is well rounded (coming from a novice; I'm sure the pros here will have a bone to pick with what they consider 'well rounded' 🙂 )
