Gorgeous Erard piano

In my lifetime I’ve seen quite a few beautiful art case Erard pianos. Today I stumbled by this one at a museum. All I can say is wow!!

HeartKeys I think that @navindra has been doing some work to make these images visible to UK residents, but I still see an empty blue box. I'm not that bothered by this issue but thought I would flag this up with a reply in case @navindra might be interested.

Are the candlestick holders part of the piano? They seem too large and would also put the candles very high up.

Although I can appreciate the craftsmanship in creating this piano, I think it comes from an era when expensive piano designs were far more ornate than is popular today. By today's standards of beauty I think many people, including me, would find this design rather garish. Steinway has a similar art case design but with most of the gold leaf replaced by wood carving, and I find that more beautiful. Similarly, I find the Boesendorfer Chopin art case model far more appealing.

Fair point. Meanwhile I think that Erard looks cool, perhaps as a museum piece which is exactly where it’s currently at.

Currently my two acoustics are the standard ebony polish, for personal use.

That's what I think. I'm not fan of most art case pianos. I like the minimalism of the modern piano. No matter the style of the room, it fits. And the lines are easy to read, gesture-wise. Heavily ornate pianos are usually an explosion of visual information.

I've now copied all of the images from Imgur to cdn-01.pianotell.com. CDN is short for content delivery network. Here's an example of the old image location versus new home:

I've disabled Imgur uploads.
I've enabled uploads direct to PianoTell. New images will now be safe going forward and will be accessible worldwide. If you want to test this, post pictures of your pianos here.
I have added some code that replaces the Imgur links with the new PianoTell one. You should be seeing this gradually taking effect once cache expires or you reload the pages.

NOT DONE YET:

I want to update the links directly in the SQL database but there is no rush for this. I'll have to be careful here. I may end up doing this later as part of other database maintenance work that might be needed.
