tony_stride Which brings me to the second issue that is being discussed here, expertise. @Sophia pointed out that my justification basically boiled down to, 'because I said so' (although we have resolved this in this thread).
Hehe, true. I’m a direct type of person and I call a spade a spade. I had a specific question and you burst into a lot of justification that because your method works, your decision is okay. That is not an answer, that's a dismissal... which is your good right of course. You owe no one an explanation, least of all some random person on the Internet.
But in the end you were willing to reveal your true reason: convenience and space confinement. Totally valid and completely acceptable. I thank you once again for being candid 😘
I asked because I was genuinely puzzled of the value of reading the "wrong line". I was willing to accept that there might be actual value in not switching note position (not to be confused with switching hands which is of course vital), but that explanation never came because it turns out there is no absolute value in that.
I mean, there are novelty acts where a pianist will play a piano upside down, or leaning across from behind the piano, or by flipping the hands upside down. That is like a super skilled circus act... but it isn't useful to learn it unless you want to impress. It adds no value to the skill of playing piano.
Tapping the top note with the left hand, to me, fell into that category. It still does... but again, you absolutely explained why you chose to do it that way, and I agree with your reasoning there. It makes sense... it's logical... and convenient. And it’s not hard to adjust to once you know why it’s written down like that.
To me you absolutely proved your expertise by giving an adequate reason. Case closed 😁
