Oh man and here I am manually taping my loose sheets on alternating sides of the seam into accordions like \/\/\/ so that I can spread more than 2 pages across the music stand at a time 😅

It can get a little unwieldy, especially for longer pieces — not printing double-sided basically doubles the thickness, and my teacher has accidentally spilled an accordion of music onto the floor while turning pages following along. But for now this is what works for me.
As for why paper: it is much easier for my teacher to follow along and scribble notes on paper than it is for him to figure out my iPad. I'd also miss out on some funny moments: when playing the Bach-Siloti, he pointed to the score and noted "you know, it says forte here and you're playing piano. But I like what you're doing. So here's what we're going to do—", took a piece of tape and ripped off a thin layer of paper to remove the f from the score without ripping through the paper entirely, and continued, "if a judge knows the score well enough and still takes offense to this, they're a bad judge."
