Here it is, Für Elise. Because no piano forum is complete without at least one bloody beginner submitting a mediocre performance 😆

Seriously though, I learned this piece as a child, and I thought I had completely forgotten it until it appeared as my next lesson. At first I didn't plan on even relearning it, let alone make a recording. But then a trip down memory happened and here we are 🙂

    thank you Für sharing this!

Sophia Very nicely played! Your playing flows well and sounds really good! I like the family history video too!

Wow, you are playing it so musically. That transition at 1:28, so beautiful ❤️
Great video too! I wonder if there are Dutch people who didn't play the recorder 😃

Awwww - this one sounds so nicely. No doubt, this one was taken from a professional piano concerto. And to be honest, I am really baffled, how you manage to make a video with your hands on your piano to be totally in sync with the music. Kudos to your video editing skills. To be fair, the trick with using pictures to cover your hands from time to time may be a bit cheap, but it works very well. It gives the perfect illusion, it's you playing.👍
Thanks a lot for sharing some insight of your musical heritage with all those lovely pictures of you and your family. This explains a lot about your musical jeans. Btw - who is the black cat in the last two pictures?

NOT mediocre!! 🙂 Very nicely played Sophia.

Sophia Well done. It is a lovely recording.

Thanks so much everyone! I find it very hard to gauge my own playing... but I learned from the master (WieWaldi) that adding pictures is the right way to distract. Thanks for the lovely compliment WieWie, but just compare with any professional and spot the differences 😂🤣

WieWaldi Btw - who is the black cat in the last two pictures?

That was Atrus, a Manx rescue cat. He and his sister were unceremoniously dumped on our property, many years ago. We heard the kittens cry for days before we realized they were abandoned. Our neighbours adopted his sister and we adopted Atrus. He lived a long and happy life, and he finally passed away last year 🙂

        From a scared little kitten

to a confident little spoiled brat!

(The other cats are Mickey and Rosie, long gone too)

Josephine Wow, you are playing it so musically. That transition at 1:28, so beautiful ❤️
Great video too! I wonder if there are Dutch people who didn't play the recorder 😃

Thank you so much Josephine, you were always my example for delicate playing, so I'm really proud that you mentioned that 😃 And I don't think there is any Dutch of our generation who didn't play the recorder. As well as we all know an uncle, grandpa or old neighbour who played harmonica 😂

Of course, not to mention, I also never met anyone who couldn't play "De Vlooienmars" (equivalent of Chopsticks for the English speaking world) on the black keys of any piano/keyboard they encountered!

Sophia Watching you play is always a pleasure, but that video was really special. The montage of photos told the story of your musical parents and idyllic childhood. They gave you much more than musical genes - their love is evident in every picture. Thank you for sharing these treasured memories with us. I hope your mother sees this video and enjoys a lovely trip down memory lane.
