Nightowl Thanks, Nightowl ! There are tons of pieces in the repertoire that are beyond my skill level even if I were to start practicing ffive hours a day again as when this reocrding was made. I'm fine with that and simply enjoy playing what I can. When I taught, the majority of my students were beginning and intermediate level adult players (college age), although I did have a handful of talented advanced players as well. I would advise anyone starting out to 1) work with a good teacher so as not to develop any bad habits, 2) practice with purpose (i.e., pay attenton to details - both technically and musically - and have a goal in mind}, and 3) don't take on more than you can reasonably accomplish to include tackling repertoire that you aren't ready for.. It is much better to play easy and intermediate level works well than to play difficult works poorly. Above all, have fun. As for predicting who would succeed and who wouldn't, It really depends on the individual student, their talent and motivation,, and their willingness to work hard. Cheers !!!!!
