I'm mildly panicking here! I have a draft cut of my video and I think I also have a decent audio track now (thanks to that precious mastering tip from Sam!), so I'll definitely get this done even if I have to cut some corners.
Here's to hoping we get some surprise submissions!

I have a busy schedule and I go out of town frequently. The last few years I wouldn't push myself to practice a piece in order to get a recording before an online recital deadline. I'd submit something I'm working that will be ready at least 3 days before the deadline. Otherwise keep working on it and record for the next recital.
It's not a contest between PW and PT - The more people that participate, wherever they are, the better!
Sam
Is #2 now closed for submissions?
It doesn't seem to be! Go for it!
Sam True, but it's interesting to compare numbers between the two forums and my post was a way of giving credit to Nav for his achievement in establishing this new forum.
Sam, you have put a lot of work and effort into running the recitals for the PW forum for many years, that shows real commitment and community spirit. I think that Nav has similar qualities, and I appreciate the work that both of you do to enable beginners like me to participate in the online recitals. Thank you.

Sam It's not a contest between PW and PT - The more people that participate, wherever they are, the better!
+1 Thanks Sam for all that you do and your support for basically everyone here and there.
There's also no question that PianoTell was born from Piano World and there's quite a bit to be grateful for, not the least of which is the long running tradition of holding quarterly recitals.
As a brief aside, I recently read that VS is doing quite well and I've not noticed any changes to PW since the ads got worse.

@navindra im not sure if this has been brought up before or if anyone i\else is having the same issue. When I try to see the videos embedded in the recital page, YouTube tells me I need to log in and confirm Iβm not a bot, but it also doesnβt seem to allow me to do this through the embedded video. This happens intermittently, not always.
Anyways, if thereβs another post on this issue, Iβm happy to be redirected there.
Thanks for putting this together!

Sgisela Oh no, I haven't heard about this roadblock before. I'm not sure why YouTube's bot detection is kicking in.
Does this still happen if you go to YouTube directly and sign in first then come back here, or are the embedded videos still broken?
Is it possible you may have an ad blocker or something that may be interfering with YouTube embeds?

Sgisela As a temporary workaround here is a playlist of all the YouTube videos.

navindra Thanks, but PW is not doing so well, at least in the ABF. Participation seems way down in general. This recital, #76, had the fewest number of performers ever, even lower than the very first recital. The decline started before PW was bought out, but has accelerated rapidly since the ads showed up. I have a post with a pdf graph up on PW showing the history.
But it is what it is - I am committed to keeping the recitals going as long as there is someone that wants to participate. We shouldn't think "only 26 performers", but "wow, we had 26 performers!".

I am signed in separately on my YouTube app, and I just tried also signing in on my web browser, but Iβm still getting the bot block. Sometimes I can refresh the page and it will allow me to see a few videos before doing the bot block thing again, but not always. However, if I open a new tab and re-enter the recital page, this usually clears the issue temporarily.
I donβt have an ad blocker enabled and am using the safari browser (either on my iPad or phone β both give me the same problems).
Thanks for setting up the playlist. I think I will try listening there for now!
Sgisela Your trouble stoke my curiosity. I did a little research on this annoying bot check issue. Some say if you use a VPN, the bot check will pop up. It makes sense because with VPN your IP address will appear to change frequently as far as YouTube sees.
Another possibility is if the browser has some YouTube downloader plugin installed. I donβt think that applies to you, though.
Sam We shouldn't think "only 26 performers", but "wow, we had 26 performers!".
Stats for the November rectial (both forums):
26 PianoWorld total submissions
27 Piano|Tell total submissions
4 equal submissions in both forums
5 performers submitted different pieces in both forums
(49 different submissions in both forums)
I think the right answer, Wow, we have 49 submissions together.
Ok, only 44, if it would be one forum and duplicates were not allowed.
@navindra I've read some (very few) people here wanted to have a holiday rectial. If you are really willing to do so, time is running and 1st December is very close. Already too close for my liking, so I suggest not to do so.
But can you start as admin a poll or an official looking thread about how we want to proceed next year. You know the Mar-Jun-Sep-Dec schedule is still an open proposal, but nothing decided so far. Because if we switch to that one, we have a holiday rectial.
Btw, these were the stats of last August rectial:
28 PianoWorld total submissions
29 Piano|Tell total submissions
11 equal submissions in both forums
3 performers submitted different pieces in both forums
(46 different submissions in both forums)
There is a big decline of the people, who submitted the equal pieces in both forums and if this trend continues, this number goes close to zero. IMO, no need to keep the schedule in sync with PianoWorld.

I think we can keep it informal β it can be self-organized.
@rogerch already said he will start a thread, so folks can participate and post their holiday pieces as and when they want to... stuff will go live immediately and there will be no time limit. Folks can use the recital format if they wish or keep it free-form.

Yes, perhaps PianoTell has less visibility on Piano World now and things are starting to even out. I would still stick to the plan and have a stable/predictable format for at least 2 more recitals before proposing any changes to the schedule.
