I decided to create a new video to enhance my 2011 home recording of the Novellette No. 2 which I've posted on PW in the past. The eight peces that comprise the "Novelletten" were composed by Robert Schumann in 1838 around the same time as his "Kinderszenen." The drama and drive of the two outer sections of Novellette No. 2 have always reminded me of galloping horses (thus the new imagery). grin The middle section is a lyric Intermezzo. The piece is marked "Γ„ußerst rasch und mit Bravour" (Extremely fast and with bravura). Easier said than done.

That was very beautiful Carey! It did not remind me of galopping horses though. Such special music, thank you!

... feeling like the pianist on the Titanic ...

Animisha Thank you so much for listening and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I must admit that the galloping horse thing is very much a personal reaction, and I have no doubt that other folks may hear something different.. FY I - like you, my stepfather was a psychologist. An interesting and rewarding profession.

Carey Great playing! I think the imagery in the video goes well with the music

rogerch Thanks !!! Making the recording was challenging enough, but trying to find appropriate "free" downloadable images for a video is an entirely different matter. This one was fun, and I discovered some new artists in the process. πŸ˜€

Carey I really like that the horses get to rest in the slower middle section πŸ™‚

rogerch The slower middle section provides welcome relief for both the horses and the pianist !! πŸ˜ƒ

Carey An accomplished performance. I always see images when playing, and yours complemented the music, perfectly for me.

Rob Hi Rob - Thank you so much for listening and commenting. I normally don't have specific miages in mind when playing, and usually just let the music speak for itself. In this instance, however, the gralloping horse imagery was very clear to me and it informed my interpretation. Cheers !!!!
