    Enthusiastic but mediocre amateur.

US eastern standard time is five hours behind the UK which isn't too much of a difference. I think we should just request that everyone on the US west coast should relocate to the east.

Actually, it is true. I am happy here. 😊

keff US eastern standard time is five hours behind the UK

... but six hours behind Stockholm! And the western parts of USA is nine hours behind. ðŸĪŠ

Not fair... Europe is ahead in every way. Literally! ðŸĪĢ

        I hate time zones! LOL!!

In all seriousness, I live about 1/2 mile from the line between (US) Eastern and Central. Sometimes, the smart phone gets it wrong, too, depending upon the tower it happens to see.

        Plus... Daylight Savings Time... UUGGHHH!!!!

I can relate, Bellyman! We live in the one stubborn town out here that refuses to adhere to timezones AND we live close to the line too. That means that we always have to keep track of timezones, because when we visit the next town to our east, they are an hour out in the summer. The town to our west is an hour out in the winter. I wish the world would do away with DST already...

          Bellyman
I can relate to that. I live on the edge of two time zones, one of which does not observe daylight savings time. More than once I've been an hour early for appointments. I don't care what time it is, but can we just stop changing clocks twice a year?

We in Europe have been promised that they we would stop with DST, but then came covid and the promise was forgotten... 😊

Well, in northern parts of Europe (actually Poland is not that far north) in the summer it's nice to still have some daylight late in the evening instead of being woken up by sunlight at 3 am and in the winter being able to wake up to daylight instead of total darkness. People in more southern latitudes might not get it but for us northerners it's really just a small inconvenience twice a year for a pretty large lifestyle advantage for several months of the year. I would even prefer to have a 2 hours change for some months of the year.

BartK, I hear what you're saying. In all honesty, if they were going to pick a time and stick to it, I would prefer DST here, as I think that would work better than standard time.

As someone who doesn't have a 9-5 job... my "job" is closer to what people would consider "farming"... I don't really care all that much about what a clock says. I care much more about, "what time does it get light" and "what time does it get dark". That is what would dominate my schedule because some stuff is just better in the daylight.

But yeah, I get that others might live in places where it makes more of a difference. It's not a huge difference in latitude between me and our son who lives in Scottsdale, AZ. They do not change their clocks. And somehow they do just fine. A few other places don't change as well and they do well. If there are things that really do work well earlier or later in the day, it is not out of the realm of possibility for schools, churches, businesses, etc., to change the hours that they are open to accommodate seasonal variations in how daytime falls on the clock.

At least we don't live in Alaska. LOL!!

              Animisha Wake up America!

This could be a political slogan in the US, especially with elections coming up! lol.

              (I'm not political btw)

              BartK

As you of course know, Sweden is north of Poland and

BartK actually Poland is not that far north)

yes, for me Poland is middle Europe. But even up here we are a large group who hate the changing twice a year. There is an increase in heart attacks and car accidents when going through this change.
It doesn't matter if the sun goes up at three o'clock or four o'clock - you still need blackout curtains if you don't want to wake up way too early. 🙃

At some stage I will endeavour to make a recording of Morning Has Broken in a simplified Rick Wakeman arrangement.
